THE GOOD NEWS…...In 4th and 5th Grades!!! The 4th and 5th grade students spent the day at ACES (Aspen Center for Environmental Sciences). The students waded the creeks looking for evidence of a healthy watershed and studied water conservation. They had a chance to identify vertebrates and invertebrates using live reptiles and fish. The students viewed owls, eagles, and hawks, some in cages and some roaming the park. The students had so much fun learning in the great outdoors!! Buenas Noticias … En Cuarto y Quinto grados!! Los estudiantes de cuarto y quinto grado pasaron el día en ACES (Aspen Center for Environmental Sciences). Los estudiantes se metieron a los arroyos en busca de evidencia de cuenca saludable y estudiaron la conservación del agua. Ellos tuvieron la oportunidad de identificar los vertebrales y los invetérales utilizando los reptiles y peces. Los estudiantes vieron búhos, águilas, halcones. Algunos en jaulas y algunos libres. Los estudiantes se divirtieron mucho! Aprendizaje al aire libre!

Our  next  FUNdraising  opportunity  is  going  to  kick  off  shortly.  

Save the Date There will be three performances: Wednesday, November 9th @ 2pm (this is more of a dress rehearsal but everyone is welcome to come). Thursday, November 10th @ 2pm Friday, November 11th @ 6pm

RED RIBBONS ARE THE NATIONAL SYMBOL FOR “RED RIBBON WEEK”  BY WEARING THE RED RIBBON, OUR STUDENTS MAKE A PERSONAL STATEMENT   AGAINST THE USE OF DRUGS AND TO BE BULLY FREE.   

MONDAY, OCTOBER 24th:   ACTIVITIES – At 8:15am the 8th graders will present to each  class why we celebrate “RED RIBBON WEEK”!  Hand out “YOU HAVE THE POWER” Red Ribbons for  students to wear all week.  Throughout the day during P.E. “RED RIBBON ACTIVITIES AND SIGNING OF  COMMITMENT POSTERS.”  Law enforcement officers will have presenta ons scheduled on this 

day.  

9:15am‐10:15am  –  Law  Enforcement  Representa ves  will  be  here  to  give  the  Drug Free presenta on to our middle school students. 



9:00am‐9:45am  –  Law  Enforcement  Representa ves  will  be  here  to  talk  about  our pledge to be drug free to our Pre‐K through 5th graders. 

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25th:  ACTIVITIES – “YOU HAVE THE POWER” paper clips will be hand‐ ed out to all students.  They will be doing Red Ribbon relays during PE and be given facts about what  Red Ribbon week represents and how it will affect their future.   

 

6:00pm—A Law Enforcement Officer will be talking to parents about drug awareness and the  impact it has on the youth of our society. 

 WEDNESDAY,  OCTOBER  26th:    STAFF  &  STUDENTS  WEAR  RED  SHIRTS  TO SHOW SUPPORT  FOR  A  DRUG  FREE  EN‐ VIORNMENT!    Students  are  welcome  to  wear  red  shirts  with  their  uni‐ form bo oms.   “YOU HAVE THE POWER” will be today’s theme to wrap  up our pledge to be Bully and Drug Free.

The purpose of this council is to: promote participation in the ministry of Catholic education, to develop ownership and stability for the future, to offer financial advice, to develop and defend local policy, to serve as a good public relations source, to enable the principal to spend adequate time as an educational leader, to provide parents/guardians with a voice in their children’s education and to encourage strategic planning. Committee members are appointed by the principal and/or pastor. Currently our SAC is diligently working to develop committees for the ongoing betterment of our students and our school. We are reaching out to those interested in providing leadership in working towards St. Stephen Catholic School’s mission and vision, and ultimately helping us move forward with the mission of Catholic Education in our communities.
