Hello Everyone! I hope your Pentecost Sunday was as good as ours at SLOPE night! The topic of discussion was on Evangelization and the Holy Spirit. Youth learned about the background of Pentecost, what the apostles were thinking and going through as they were huddled together in the upper room. The main point of the night was for youth to think of the Holy Spirit as their constant abiding companion. And that the Holy Spirit is a driving POWERFUL force (not some cute little dove). We also put many of the fears of evangelization to rest. Things like: I don’t know how to evangelize (you don’t have to; the holy spirit will give you the words to say). I am afraid to share Jesus with others (who do you think that fear is coming from? It is definitely not from God). I fear that I might make things worse for the other person and “turn them off” and mess up their salvation (you can’t turn off what is already off). I am a huge sinner, I don’t want to be a hypocrite (Well everyone is a sinner, and you can use your personal story of finding a savior in the midst of sin to evangelize even better!). The youth were left just as the apostles were left by Jesus, to go out and spread the good news of Jesus Christ through the whole world! We all have the help of the Holy Spirit in our mission of evangelization, our greatest advocate! May 22nd is the last SLOPE night. We will be having a BBQ, followed by field games and then goodbyes. Please refer to the website for all of our Summer Events and Activities. Also, sign up for Flocknote and join the SLOPE youth ministries group for fun events like hiking and movie nights. Thank you all so much for your sacrifices and bringing/dragging your children to SLOPE night every Sunday! We had a great year! God Bless our youth at St. Stephen Church and School! Sincerely, Ben Ziemann

A Huge thank you from the Art Teacher…. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people that helped make the art show possible. There are so many! First, to Wendy Vanderhoof that helped get the word out about the show. Without her, no one would ever know. Bree Anderson, as she does every year, helped me to get the works taped to colorful paper for display, and for all her support throughout the years. Chris McSwain, typed all the names you see on the tags, as well as helped with all the little details. Laura Fetko-Shea, Anne-Marie Kelley, and a few seventh and eighth graders helped to hang the artwork throughout the room. Not an easy feat! Elise Hillbrand, Kelly Hillbrand, Laura Carter, Guy Brickell, and Kari Kuersten who graciously volunteered to man a “Creation Station” at the show. Rosemary O’Connor for ALWAYS helping me in the front office with copies, lamination, photos, and all the other wonderful things she does for all of us on a daily basis. Thank you to all the teachers and administration for supporting me throughout the year. To parents, for valuing the visual and performing arts in their child’s education and coming to support your children’s hard work. Lastly, thank you to my students for always inspiring me to become a better teacher, and by giving me your smiles and hugs each day. I hope that you will always carry with you a lifelong love of art!   Artfully yours, Mrs. Rosario Young
