PASTOR’S Reflection

reaking Open the Word of God:

Dear brothers and sisters, in the first reading, we find the dialogue between Yahweh and the prophet Jeremiah, and we hear a perfect example of Divine Love. Some of the words that the Heavenly Father spoke are very moving. Yahweh said: "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you." God in his knowledge, already knew Jeremiah before forming him in the womb of his mother. There is no doubt that before each and every one of us was formed in the womb of our mothers, God knew us. Consequently, we can conclude that Yahweh had already set Jeremiah apart for his prophetic mission.

In our daily Christian life, we must always be aware of our thoughts, our words and our actions. Do we judge wrongly and condemn others as those who judged and condemned Jesus? Do we discriminate against others because of their color, race, nationality, education, sex, age or way of dressing? None of these judgments perceives the soul of others, all people are equal before the eyes of God. To manifest God's love for others, we must be prepared to become small so that others can be resurrected. We must be prepared to serve so that others can be cared for. We must be prepared to take the back seat so that others can have the front seat. We must be prepared to respect others as we would like to be respected. We must die in Christ so that Christ may shine in others. That's what the love of God is about.

On behalf of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit serving in this community, I want to thank each of you who generously helped financially and with your prayers during this campaign to repair the roof of our Church. We are so close to the goal, all we need is $1,255. Thank you so much for what you’ve done these past eight weeks, and know you are in our prayers, God will reward as your generosity abundantly.

While not all of us are called to be prophets, by the grace of God, through our Baptism, we have also been set apart for divine service. Our call, as revealed to us through Jesus Christ, is to worship God, obey His commandments, share the good news with the whole world, alking together serve one another and shine in love for brothers and sisters: others for the glory of God. When the Lord God told Jeremiah to "gird your Dear brothers and sisters, this loins," He was emphasizing the need to week, let's take some time to evaluate be prompt to fulfill the command to be a our personal life in the world. Are we prophet to the nations. Girding your loins means being prepared and ready to be sent.

In today's Gospel, from the spiritual point of view, we can perceive how God manifested his love in a very personal way. Through the incarnation of his Son, God came to dwell among us. The great love that God has for us, who left aside His divinity, took on our human form and dwelt among us so that we can know Him as He really is: holy, perfect, eternal, merciful, etc. When God came down from heaven to dwell among us, not everyone accepted his love. As the prophets of the Old Testament were rejected in their hometown, the Lord Jesus also found rejection among His own. In the eyes of the people of his hometown, He did not meet their standards. Because they knew him from his childhood, He was nothing special to them.

happy to serve instead of demanding a service? Are we humble instead of proud? Are we giving love instead of waiting to receive it? May the reflection on these questions help us so that we can always glorify God in everything we do.

Conchita, Tell Us about Your Life Conchita tells us the Reason of Her Trip to Rome By order of the Congregation for Religious in Rome, I had to send them many of my manuscripts, together with eight volumes of the writings we called “Life” which came from my Account of Conscience, so that the Holy Church in Rome could examine my soul and the communications with my Lord Jesus. After that, Msgr. Ramon Ibarra decided to bring me to Rome, for a direct examination, on the occasion of a Mexican pilgrimage to the Holy Land. I took along Ignacio, who was twenty, and Lupe, fifteen. The pilgrimage was first to the Holy Land, but finally we arrived in Rome, the Holy City. "We arrived in the evening. Msgr. Ruiz was at the station and gave me the bad news about the situation here of the Works of the Cross. I hope against hope! My God! "What an impression in my soul on arriving in this Holy City! I started praying when we left Naples, and I was thrilled at seeing this place of so many of my dreams, and so feared, the place where the Church alone can give approval for the Priests of the Cross. So here I am so close to the Pope I can hardly believe it. I desire to see him and I tremble at the sole thought. We were given a private audience with Pope Pius X at ten thirty in the morning. The moment came, they called my name and I entered to the presence of the Vicar of Christ on earth. He was at his desk with Monsignor Ibarra in front of him. I knelt with tears in my eyes. He asked me what I desired of him. “I beg Your Holiness to approve the Works of the Cross.” "They are approved, do not fear, and I give you my very special blessing for you, your family and for all the Works." He told me several times “Prega per me – pray for me.” He blessed me again and we left. Later I had an interview with Msgr. Donato Sbaretti, Secretary of the Congregation for Religious. He asked me about Mexico, about my life, about the origin of the Apostleship of the Cross and the contemplative Sisters. He understood some points quite clearly after we talked. Msgr. Ibarra suggested the change from Priests of the Cross to Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, a change Pope Pius X personally approved. We came home through France and Spain, extremely grateful. The Church had spoken, the Cross had triumphed, the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit would be founded.

Conchita: Cuéntanos tu vida Conchita nos habla de la finalidad de su viaje a Roma Por orden de la Congregación de Religiosos de Roma, tuve que enviarles gran parte de mis escritos y ocho volúmenes de los escritos que titulamos Vida, que fueron extracto de mi Cuenta de Conciencia para que la Santa Iglesia de Roma pudiera examinar mi alma y las conversaciones con mi Señor Jesús. Monseñor Ibarra me quiso llevar a Roma para un examen personal, aprovechando que llevaba una peregrinación a Tierra Santa. Me llevé a Ignacio que en ese momento tenía 20 años, y a Lupe, de 15. Desde Nápoles me vine haciendo oración y me estremecí al divisar este lugar tan soñado y tan temido… en donde sólo puede la Iglesia dar la aprobación de los Sacerdotes de la Cruz. Estoy muy cerca del Papa y me parece mentira. Deseo verlo y tiemblo de sólo pensarlo. Nos dieron una audiencia privada con el Papa Pío X a las diez y media de la mañana. Llegó la hora, me llamaron, y me presenté ante el Vicario de Jesucristo en la tierra. Estaba en su escritorio con Mons Ibarra enfrente, yo me arrodillé llorando y él me habló. Me preguntó qué le pedía. “Yo le pido Su Santidad que apruebe las Obras de la Cruz”. Están aprobadas, no temas, y te doy una bendición especial para ti, para tu familia y para las Obras. Varias veces me dijo “Prega per me”, ora por mí. Me bendijo nuevamente y salimos. Luego me fui a entrevistar con Mons. Donato Sbaretti, Secretario de la Congregación de Religiosos. Me interrogó sobre México, sobre mi vida, sobre el origen del Apostolado de la Cruz y de las Religiosas contemplativas. Comprendió muchos puntos con esta entrevista. Antes de irnos Mons. Ibarra propuso cambiar el nombre a Misioneros del Espíritu Santo, y Su Santidad aprobó este cambio de inmediato. Regresamos por Francia y España, inmensamente agradecidos. editando la Palabra de Dios

Queridos hermanos y hermanas, en la primera lectura de este cuarto domingo del tiempo ordinario, nos encontramos con el diálogo entre Yahvé y el profeta Jeremías, escuchamos un ejemplo perfecto de Amor Divino. Algunas de las palabras que habló el Padre Celestial son muy conmovedoras. Yahvé dijo: "Antes de formarte en el seno materno, te conozco". Dios en su conocimiento, ya conocía a Jeremías antes de formarlo en el vientre de su madre. No hay duda de que antes de que todos y cada uno de nosotros estuviéramos formados en el vientre de nuestras madres, Dios nos conocía. En consecuencia, podemos concluir que Yahvé había apartado a Jeremías para su misión profética. Si bien no todos estamos llamados a ser profetas, por la gracia de Dios, a través de nuestro Bautismo, también hemos sido apartados para un servicio divino. Nuestro llamamiento, como se nos reveló a través de Jesucristo, es adorar a Dios, obedecer Sus mandamientos, compartir la buena nueva al mundo entero, servirnos unos a otros y brillar en el amor hacia los demás para la gloria de Dios. Cuando el Señor Dios le dijo a Jeremías "ciñe tus lomos", estaba enfatizando la necesidad de ser puntual para cumplir la orden de ser un profeta para las naciones. Ceñir sus lomos significa estar listos y preparados para ser enviados. En el Evangelio de hoy, pensando espiritualmente, podemos percibir cómo Dios manifestó su amor de una manera muy personal. A través de la encarnación de su Hijo, Dios vino a morar entre nosotros. El gran amor que Dios tiene para nosotros, que dejó a un lado Su divinidad, tomó forma humana sobre Sí Mismo y habitó en nuestro medio para que podamos conocerlo como Él realmente es: santo, perfecto, eterno, misericordioso, etc. Cuando Dios bajó del cielo para morar entre nosotros, no todos aceptaron su amor. Como los profetas del Antiguo Testamento fueron rechazados en su ciudad natal, el Señor Jesús también encontró el rechazo entre los suyos. A los ojos de la gente de su ciudad natal, Él no cumplió con sus estándares. Porque lo conocían desde su infancia, Él no era nada especial para ellos. En nuestra vida cristiana diaria, siempre debemos estar conscientes de nuestros pensamientos, nuestras palabras y nuestras acciones. ¿Juzgamos mal y condenamos a otros como los que juzgaron y condenaron a Jesús?

¿Discriminamos a los demás por su color, raza, nacionalidad, educación, sexo, edad o forma de vestir? Ninguno de estos juicios percibe el alma de los demás, todas las personas son iguales ante los ojos de Dios. Para manifestar el amor de Dios hacia los demás, debemos estar preparados para hacernos pequeños para que otros puedan ser resucitados. Debemos estar preparados para servir para que otros puedan ser atendidos. Debemos estar preparados para tomar el último asiento para que otros puedan tener el asiento de adelante. Debemos estar preparados para respetar a los demás como nos gustaría ser respetados. Debemos morir en Cristo para que Cristo brille en los demás. De eso se trata el amor de Dios.

Estimados hermanos y hermanas, esta semana, tomemos un tiempo para evaluar nuestra vida personal en el mundo. ¿Estamos contentos de servir en lugar de exigir un servicio? ¿Somos humildes en vez de ser orgullosos? ¿Estamos dando amor en vez de estar esperando recibirlo? Que el reflexionar en estas preguntas nos ayuden para que siempre podamos glorificar a Dios en todo lo que hacemos. En nombre de los Misioneros del Espíritu Santo sirviendo en esta comunidad, quiero agradecer a cada uno de ustedes que generosamente ayudaron económicamente y con sus oraciones durante esta campaña para reparar el techo de nuestra Iglesia. Estamos muy cerca de alcanzar nuestra meta, sólo necesitamos $1,255. World Day for Consecrated Life World Day for Consecrated Life will be celebrated in the Church on Saturday, February 2, 2019 and in parishes on the weekend of February 2-3, 2019. Please pray for all those who have made commitments in the consecrated life, and be sure to thank them on their special day. May they continue to be inspired by Jesus Christ and respond generously to God's gift of their vocation. Abramos nuestros corazones El llamado a abordar el racismo en nuestros corazones y comunidades En su nueva Carta pastoral contra el racismo, Abramos nuestros corazones: El incesante llamado al amor, los obispos católicos de los Estados Unidos invitan a la conversión de corazones, mentes e instituciones para abordar el mal del racismo que todavía existe en nuestras comunidades. Así como amamos y cuidamos a los miembros de nuestra familia, también estamos llamados a cuidar a los miembros de la familia del cuerpo de Cristo. Estamos llamados a cuidar a todos nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Cristo, honrando a cada persona como única, sagrada y creada a imagen de Dios. Sabemos que el mal del racismo afecta el núcleo mismo del plan de Dios para la humanidad, devaluando la diversidad que Dios creó dentro de la familia humana. Los obispos nos recuerdan: “El mandato del amor requiere que hagamos espacio para los demás en nuestro corazón. Significa que, efectivamente, somos el guardián de nuestro hermano (véase Gn 4:9)”. In the Eucharist we find all the good of the Church. In it we have the certainty that God is faithful to His promise and stays with us until the end of time. Mass Linens Ministry Every time we celebrate Mass linens are used to set the altar and distribute communion. They need to be laundered with special care and following specific instructions, but this ministry is very fulfilling for those who cannot participate in ministries with meetings, or structured schedules. People helping launder linens are scheduled once a month to take home half the linens used during the week, and bring them back mid-week. SEAS Pro-Life Ministry Spiritual Adoption Program Everyone loves the beauty and innocence of a baby. As an expression of that love, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Pro-Life Ministry announces an adoption program for young and old alike. The members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish family will have the opportunity on February 9-10, 2019, after all Masses to “spiritually” adopt a child who is newly conceived this month. Not all newly conceived babies are allowed to be born. In fact, more than 4,000 babies lose their lives to abortion each day. It is these babies you are being asked to “adopt”. You may “adopt” a child individually or as a family by signing up during that weekend. You will be asked to name the child for whom you will be praying, thereby giving the baby the humanity he or she deserves. You will be asked to pray for your unborn child and for all unborn children, for the power of prayer is great. You will receive monthly reports through the Seton Sunday News and via email describing your baby’s development and your child will be born in October 2019. There are millions of unborn babies desperately in need of your prayers. Won’t you please “spiritually adopt” one and share the love for life that God have given you?
