PASTOR’S Reflection
B
hearts, replied: “but one mightier than
reaking Open the Word I is coming.” The word “mightier” brings Jesus to mind, the great of God:
My brothers and sisters in Christ, today's first reading from the book of Isaiah speaks of a prophecy related to the coming of the promised Messiah. The Gospel Reading from Luke announces the official beginning of the Lord's ministry on earth as Christ the Redeemer when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. In the first reading we hear God speak to His people through the prophet Isaiah. In those days, God’s chosen people were coming out of captivity. Jerusalem was in ruins. The Jewish people had experienced great suffering. God asked Isaiah to comfort His people, to speak tenderly to Jerusalem and to proclaim to her that she had served her sentence, that her guilt was expiated, that she had received from the hand of the Lord double for all her sins. The words “in the desert prepare the way of the Lord” introduce one of the richest terms found in Scripture. The “Way” is a way of life, living for humanity or living for God. There can be two ways, right or wrong. John the Baptist cried out in the desert to prepare "the way of the Lord." Jesus declared that He Himself was that Way. Jerusalem, synonymous with Zion, was called the herald of good news. It was proclaimed, "Here is your God!" In these prophetic words, Isaiah was not suggesting a human king from King David’s line, but a divine king, Yahweh himself. The reading from the Gospel of Luke today presents the preaching of John the Baptist. We can perceive that people were expecting the arrival of the promised Messiah at any time. In their hearts, they asked themselves: "Is he the one we are waiting for?" And John the Baptist, knowing their
deliverer in the war against Satan. In this particular passage, great importance was given to the Holy Spirit. Throughout the Bible, many amazing manifestations were credited to the presence of the Holy Spirit, as the life and power of God. The Holy Spirit is identified as a separate divine presence in the Holy Trinity. While the voice of God the Father was heard from heaven, the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in bodily form like a dove. When John the Baptist declared that those who believed would be baptized with fire, this is associated with sanctification and salvation. Fire represents a sanctifying action. At the same time, in the Scriptures, fire is very often associated with the presence of the Saving God. God will sanctify his people through refined fire so that they may be made righteous before his eyes to inherit the eternal salvation set aside for God’s children.
W
alking together as brothers and sisters:
My brothers and sisters, Jesus is
the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As John the Baptist was commissioned to prepare the Way of the Lord, we, as baptized and confirmed Christians, have been called by God and sent to preach the Good News to all those with whom we have been in contact throughout our lives. For God’s greater glory, our commission sends us to show the Way to those who have not yet met the Lord Jesus in their lives. Our commission is to show the Way of the Lord to those who have turned their backs on their faith. I invite you to put into action the gifts we all received at Baptism and which were reinforced at Confirmation. Let us get moving, making God’s Love known to everybody. Fr. José Gerardo Alberto, MSpS

Conchita, Tell Us about Your Life Conchita tells us about the Mystical Incarnation and the Chain of Love: The Lord told me these words in February 1897: “I want you to prepare yourself for the day when the Church celebrates the feast of the Incarnation of the Divine Word. On that day I descended to unite Myself with Mary, making Myself flesh in her most pure womb, to bring salvation to the world. This same day I want to unite Myself spiritually with your soul and give you a new life, a divine and immortal life, in time and in eternity.” I felt a new force, a great thirst for perfection and for purity of soul. but many years would go by with nothing happening on the feast of the Incarnation. I went on retreat March 20, 1906, avid for silence and recollection. The retreat master was Father Mariano Duarte, S.J. From the very first days, the Lord began to prepare me for this supreme grace. Here I am on retreat... Even now He urges me to practice virtues. Even now I feel His presence absorb me... On the 25 th, before Mass, prostrate before the Tabernacle, I humbled myself as much as possible. Thus, my soul empty of all else, I received Him in Communion. I was taken over by the presence of my Jesus, quite close to me, hearing His divine voice which said to me: “Here I am, I want to incarnate Myself mystically in your heart. I carry out what I promise. In countless ways I have prepared you for this grace. The hour has come to carry out My promise: Receive Me. This kind of union is most profound, most intimate and, if your soul remains faithful, it will be an eternal union.” Right after receiving the central grace of her life, the mystical incarnation, God inspired Conchita with the "Chain of Love": a spiritual practice that consists in offering virtuous acts throughout the day, which are linked together to form a “chain” that connects our heart to Jesus’ Heart. The Family of the Cross strives to grow in virtue by living the Fourteen Rules of the Chain of Love, from the virtue of Humility, to transformation into Christ Priest and Victim.

P. This is just what Priests do! Priests Defend the People of God from the Enemy Part II We went over to the church and knelt down before Jesus in the tabernacle. You should have seen these
three Baptist women praying before the Blessed Sacrament! “Jesus, please forgive us. We are sorry! We love you! We love you. Please save us. We are so sorry.” It was one of the most sincere, beautiful prayers I had ever heard. I knew that Jesus would respond.
“the devil is like a great, chained dog. He makes a lot of noise but he only bites those who come too close.” Secondly, I gave them some Holy water and told them to sprinkle it in every room of the house. Finally, I said to them, “ I want you to go to church on Sunday and pray as a family every night. Call me back if you still have problems.” They did call me back a few days later to say thank you/ the demon had departed and they were most grateful. This is what priests do.
Afterward, I gave them a bottle of Holy water and told them to go home with these instructions. “First of all, destroy the Ouija board. Rip it up and then throw it away, so no one else can ever use it.” I quoted to them the great Padre Pio who said that

T y p o l o g y “Come, Just As You Are” Kianna Garmanian
I was a sophomore in high school. Sixteen years old. It was time for me to attend the big Confirmation retreat that was apparently supposed to be a transformative and life-changing experience. I was told that this retreat would change my life, awaken my spirit, and be incredible. How could this be? I didn’t want to go… I didn’t want to “waste” an entire weekend at a church event. Could I just pretend I was sick and not show up at the retreat? I tried to come up with many excuses to skip the retreat yet none of them worked well for me. So, ever reluctantly, I ended up going and this is what happened. It was a Saturday night, the second day of the retreat, and our youth minister led us teens across a path in the woods. The only light came from the candles we held in our hands, which led our way across the dark, muddy, and rocky path. After about fifteen minutes of walking, we arrived at a small building in the middle of the woods. What was going on? Where was I? These were the thoughts that ran through my head. With a candle in my hand, I slowly walked toward the building and opened the doors. As I entered, I heard the soft and beautiful voices of the choir that was singing in the background. Dozens of candles were placed around the perimeter of the room, adding a small hint of light. Once I fully entered the building, I slowly looked up and gazed at my surroundings. Behold… right in front of me was JESUS in the Eucharist, most beautifully exposed in a monstrance and placed on the tabernacle for us to adore. That was it…. I lost it. In complete tears, I broke down. And I’m not just talking about a few tears… I mean complete, hysteric, messy crying! My heart was broken, lost, confused, and afraid. I was struggling with my own set of challenges and trying to carry the cross on my own. I had so many questions about my faith and the presence of God in my life. I doubted the power of God’s love and never placed my full trust in Him. Yet, it was during this very moment at my Confirmation retreat that marked my first real and deep encounter with Christ in the Eucharist. All I did was gaze my eyes upon Jesus in the Eucharist and I KNEW, with the most complete and sincere confidence, that He was with me. I felt His love in the most powerful way and it surrounded my entire being. It was as if Jesus was wrapping His arms around me and showering me with His infinite goodness. “Come, just as you are.” These were the words I heard in my heart. Although I was broken and weak… although I was lost and confused… although I didn’t have all the answers… CHRIST was with me. That weekend changed my life. It was this retreat that deepened my desire to discover Jesus in a more intimate way and spend more time with Him in Adoration. My friends, I extend this message to you… come to Jesus, just as you are. Come to Him with all your burdens, all your worries, and all your imperfections. Just come, rest in His presence, and Jesus will take care of the rest. May God Bless you all!

an In the Eucharist we find all the good of the Church. In it we have the certainty that God is faithful to His promise and stays with us until the end of time. In our visits and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, we experience the closeness of the good shepherd, the tenderness of His love, the presence of a faithful friend. We all experience this large support in our lives provided by faith and our personal and intimate dialogue with the Lord in the Eucharist.
