CALL TO STEWARDSHIP

Weekly Deposits (Envelopes, loose, holy days, building maintenance, St. Vincent De Paul 3/18/2018: $ 4770.00 CALL TO STEWARDSHIP Through your generous Stewardship response in 2016 and 2017, we have been able to maintain, preserve and improve the physical plant of St. Brigid Church. We have been able to support our Religious Education Department through staff enrichment workshops; replaced gas lines from street along school roof line to classrooms; upgrade the heating system in the school; the new ceiling fans in the church; new electronic chime church bell system; re-surfacing of the school and church parking lots; replaced all classroom windows with tempered glass to be in compliance with the County of Los Angeles as oversite for the Charter School and the Archdiocesan Safeguard the Children policies. A new and revised ministry “giving” program will be detailed within the next few weeks. I am prayerful that the parish ministries of St. Brigid Church will continue to be generous in their spiritual and financial support.

Seven Reflections on the Last Words of Jesus on the Cross

~ REFLECTION ~

After three years of traveling, preaching, and healing, Jesus had become well known in the region. From what we read in the Gospels, most people who had encountered him had formed a strong opinion. Many had become his followers, thinking him a prophet or a miracle worker, or the Messiah or the Son of God. Others, however, thought him dangerous, a rabble-rouser who threatened their hold on power under the Roman government. In the Gospel we hear now, Jesus is greeted with the branches of palm trees, often used to welcome returning heroes. “Hosanna!” we cry. “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

~ REFLEXION ~

Forgive others. Heaven is real. Care for your parents. Express your heart to God. Be thirsty for the Living Water. Don’t give up. Finish it! Place your life in God’s hands.

Did You Know?

It can be difficult for parents to gauge when they should stay at or leave another child’s birthday party. Once kids reach a certain age, they may no longer want their parents tagging along with them, but others may have fears about being on their own. Find out what activities are planned – will the kids be staying in one location or are they going multiple places? Who is the adult in charge? Assess your child’s readiness – does he or she understand the rules? For a copy of the complete VIRTUS® article “Before you drop your child off at a birthday party…” visit http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUSCurrent-Online-Articles.aspx.

Sabia Usted?
