The Baptism of the Lord The Baptism of the Christ is the feast day commemorating the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Originally the baptism of Christ was celebrated on Epiphany, which commemorates the coming of the Magi, the baptism of Christ, and the wedding at Cana. Over time in the West, however, the celebration of the baptism of the Lord came to be commemorated as a distinct feast from Epiphany. It is celebrated in the Catholic Church as well as the Anglican and Lutheran Churches on the first Sunday following The Epiphany of Our Lord. El bautismo de Cristo es el día de la fiesta conmemorando el bautismo de Jesús en el río Jordán por Juan el Bautista. Originalmente el bautismo de Cristo se celebró en Epifanía, que conmemora la venida de los Reyes Magos, el bautismo de Cristo, y la boda en Caná. Please consider joining our St Vincent de Paul volunteer group here at St Charles. We meet on the first and third Mondays of the month in the Monsignor Poole room in the rectory at 7pm. There are a variety of services you can help with. We make home visits as needed and distribute groceries every Monday morning to name a couple. Come to one of our meetings and learn more about us and what you can do to contribute. Helping others, working with pleasant, hardworking volunteers, and finding Christ in others: it doesn't get any better than that! We look forward to meeting you soon! EL BAUTISMO DE JESÚS:

La festividad del Bautismo del Señor, fiesta que se celebra el domingo siguiente a la Epifanía y con la que se cierra el Tiempo de Navidad, comenzando el Tiempo Ordinario, en que meditamos a Cristo, Salvador del mundo. El Santo Padre volvió a pedir a los fieles a recordar la fecha de su bautismo: “porque es un renacimiento y es como si fuera el segundo cumpleaños”. Y también pidió enseñar bien a los niños a hacerse la señal de la cruz. “Regresar a la fuente de la vida cristiana nos lleva a comprender mejor el don recibido en el día de nuestro Bautismo y a renovar el compromiso de corresponderle en la condición en que nos encontramos”. Dios llama a cada uno por su propio nombre y ama a cada uno en modo personal. Por ello nuestro "renacer" en el Bautismo implica una respuesta personal. UN MOMENTITO PARA DIOS: Te invito a que tomes unos 5 minutitos para Dios y tú ……. ORACION Jesús, gracias por el don de mi existencia y el don de mi bautismo. Gracias porque tu gracia puedo amar, porque tus mandamientos no son obstáculos sino señales que indican el camino que hay que recorrer para encontrarte. Pongo en esta oración toda mi libertad en tus manos para que Tú me guíes hacia la verdadera vida. Amén.
