A Roman Catholic Stewardship Church Our Mission With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we, the Roman Catholic Community of Santiago de Compostela aspire to proclaim in word and action the living Gospel of Jesus Christ. First Sunday of Advent We the Church enter into Advent and the new liturgical year with a call for a watchful confidence. Our readings were originally addressed to communities undergoing great loss and confusion. Jeremiah speaks confidently of God fulfilling the ancient promises to Israel, even during a time of foreign invasion. Paul speaks of God leading the Church into holiness, while the community longs for the coming of Jesus. In the Gospel passage from Luke, Jesus speaks of powerful signs and of great confusion to come, but emphasizes that we may look forward knowing that God brings not cause for despair, but hope. We celebrate Advent to remind each other of Gods faithfulness. We are to be watchful, to see how God is stirring up our world. God both disturbs our pride and complacency, and brings us healing and justice. We prepare ourselves to welcome Jesus, confident that God indeed fulfills all these divine promises.

“Let us do this!” I saw this byline once in a store and it came to mind that this Love and prayers, somehow captures what will be happening this weekend. We launch the Dynamic Catholic Parish Initiative with a video of Matthew Kelly whose more than decades long work has come into Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval this Project. We will be asked to start reflecting on our dreams and visions for our Parish Family and get on our hands and knees to work on it for next five years. Much needed resources will be made available for us through the Dynamic Catholic. However, like I mentioned – we need to do our part. Remember the line in the ending of the video presentation: “Santiago de Compostela Are you ready?” My hope and prayer is that we all respond with a resounding: “Yes!” I believe in the saying: “Happy are those who dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to fulfill them!” The price will be our willingness to be more engaged and participate with an open mind, heart and spirit to where this initiative will bring us.

RECYCLING WE NEED YOUR RECYCLABLES The Knights need your help in collecting recyclables. Your recyclables are a gift to those in need. The “Lord” asks that we reach out to others and this can be your way to do so. We look forward to seeing all of you Saturday December 8th, 2018.
