Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
JMJ 20 January 2019 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always. My sincerest gratitude for all those who made the effort and braved through the rains to participate in our Dream Event last January 16th. You are all my heroes. May I also thank all those who were true stewards of the gifts they have by providing for our refreshments and serving as ushers, registration assistants and provided hospitality during our refreshment & fellowship.
next Saturday. Our Knights have been working side by side with the Organizers of this event to which our Bishop Kevin Vann and his auxiliary bishops are also invited to come in fellowship. This venture started out as a dream, a possibility of hosting it last year and now we are on our second year. This Sunday’s Gospel is one of the few occasions that St. John mentions Mother Mary. She interceded for the couple whose wedding feast she and our Lord Jesus attended. As the wine was about to run out she implored upon her Son to help them but still respectfully submitted to His will when she ended her plea with the words: “Do whatever He tells you.” This was the first miracle of Christ our Messiah.
I know in my heart these are the very words our Blessed Mother Mary is telling us to dream individually and as a Parish Family. In pursuit of it we should humbly do whatever our Lord Jesus Christ tells us to do because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. God When I was a seminarian, I encountered a bless and take care. saying: “Happy are those who dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to fulfill Love and prayers, them.” Our Lord Jesus assumed our humanity and lived among us to remind us of this important gift we have received and that is to Dream . . . to dream that we will live for eternity in Heaven our true home. I strongly Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval believe that one is capable of dreaming only if the person has hope. Our Lord has already paid the price for the dream of coming home to the Father in Heaven. We all have been given this gift – the grace of Hope that will allow us to pursue our dreams for ourselves, for our parish family and for the Church. The only price we have to pay is the willingness to allow God to guide us, support us and enlighten us. Tony who spoke during the Dream Event challenged us to an affirmative action of listing down 100 JMJ dreams. Actively pursuing these dreams will definitely affect how we live our lives and our 20 de enero de 2019 relationship with others. For those who for one reason or another was not able to come to the Dream Event I ask that you read again the Dream “Covenant” Booklet that were distributed when we launched the Dynamic Catholic Initiative. There is a portion of that booklet where you can write a short list of dreams and in the next week we will have the opportunity to offer at Mass this detachable page as our way of participating indirectly in the Dream Event. We will announce and remind you when to bring the page of the book so we can symbolically bring together our dreams to God.
Cuando era seminarista, encontré un dicho: I would also like to take this opportunity to “Felices son los que sueñan sueños y están acknowledge our Knights of Columbus in dispuestos a pagar el precio para cumplirlos”. hosting the Clergy Night. Around 450 Priests Nuestro Señor Jesús asumió nuestra humanidad and Brother Knights will attend this event y vivió entre nosotros para recordarnos este importante regalo que hemos recibido. y eso es
January 20, 2019 soñar. . Dios bendiga y cuide. Con amor y mis oraciones,
P. Thomas Paul K. Naval

Again, this year our diocese is providing opportunities for us to share our resources through the PSA “We Are One, Living the Gospel Message” campaign. This annual campaign supports diocesan ministries in many ways. Please look for a letter from Father Thomas in the mail during the first week of February with information on the PSA. This year our Parish’s share of the costs of these ministries is $133,000; donations received over that amount will be returned to the Parish for our building fund needs and parish projects. Please come to Mass on the weekend of February 16th and 17th and be prepared to make your pledge and initial payment. Please prayerfully consider the amount of your pledge to the PSA. Together we are united in the Catholic faith knowing that through your generosity many people will be served. Thank you for your participation in the life of Santiago de Compostela and the Diocese of Orange.
