Dear ECC Families, Happy New Year! 2015 has gotten off to a fast and cold new year and it has been wonderful to see our students return to class with such enthusiasm. We appreciate everyone’s understanding about closing our schools these last 2 days to keep our children safe. We are all glad to be back at the ECC today! Please remember to send your children to school dressed warmly for the weather with hats, scarves and gloves/mittens. ECC teachers take students outside only when the temperature with windchill is 30 degrees or above. Please also remember to send a pair of dry slip on shoes for your students to change into from the wet, snowy boots they arrive to school wearing. We are in the middle of flu season, and the ECC works hard to keep our school clean and our students healthy. If a child has been sick, she must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. On Thursday, January 15th, any kindergarten parent interested in becoming a RazzKid parent is invited to a short training session. Please sign and return the flyer sent home on yesterday. Ann Udell, our parent education coordinator is planning some exciting math activities for our Math Day on Thursday, January 29th, from 3:15 to 4:15. Please plan on bringing your children and enjoying this family event. A flyer will be sent home next week for you to fill out to reserve your space. On Monday, January 19th, Elmwood Park Schools will be closed in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Our Kindergarten Stars of the Week are –Erica Martinez, Anastasia Ivasyuk, Nicole Gorka, Adrian Stankiewicz, Zowie Hrabak and Blake Naber. Our PreK Stars of the Week are –Marcel Wnorowski and Eduardo Reyes-Arreola. Our Staff Star of the Week is Mrs. Christina Michalatou. Mrs. Michalatou works with both Preschool and Kindergarten students here at the ECC. She and her family live in Chicago and her favorite meal is a Chicago Style pizza. She loves traveling to Europe in the summer and enjoys visits to her friends and family in Italy and Greece. In Chicago, she and her son frequent the Children’s Museum at Navy Pier.

Estimadas Familias del Centro ECC, ¡Feliz Año Nuevo! Este nuevo año 2015 nos ha llegado muy pronto y muy frio, además ha sido maravilloso ver a los estudiantes regresar a clases con tanto entusiasmo. Por el frio tuvimos que cerrar las escuelas por los 2 ultimos dias, pero todos estamos contentos de haber tenido clases hoy. Por favor recuerde enviar a sus niños a la escuela vestidos apropiadamente para estas temperaturas, con guantes, gorros y bufandas. Las maestras del Centro ECC llevan a los niños afuera solo cuando las temperaturas están en o sobre los 30 grados con el factor del viento. Por favor recuerde también enviar un par de zapatos secos y fáciles de poner, para que puedan cambiarse las botas mojadas y llenas de nieve que traen puestas cuando llegan a la escuela. Estamos en la temporada de gripe y el Centro ECC trabaja duro para mantener nuestra escuela limpia y a nuestros estudiantes saludables. Si un niño ha estado enfermo, debe de estar libre de fiebre por unas 24 horas antes de regresar a la escuela. El jueves 15 de enero, cualquier padre de kindergarten que esté interesado en ser parte del RazzKid, está invitado para tomar un pequeño entrenamiento. Por favor firma y devuelva la forma que se envió a casa esta semana. La Señora Ann Udell, nuestra coordinadora de educación de padres, está planeando algunas actividades emocionantes de matemáticas para nuestro Día de Matemáticas el jueves 29 de enero, de 3:15 a 4:15. Por favor haga planes de traer a sus niños y disfrutar de este evento familiar. La próxima semana se estará enviando a casa una forma para que usted la llene para reservar su espacio. El lunes 10 de enero, las escuelas de Elmwood Park estarán cerradas en honor al Día de Martin Luther King Jr. Nuestros estudiantes Estrella de la Semana de Kindergarten son –Erica Martinez, Anastasia Ivasyuk, Nicole Gorka, Adrian Stankiewicz, Zowie Hrabak y Blake Naber. Nuestros estudiantes Estrella par Pre Kínder son –Marcel Wnorowski y Eduardo ReyesArreola. Nuestro personal estrella de la semana es la Señora Christina Michalatou. La Senora Michalatou trabaja tanto con estudiantes de preescolar como de Kindergarten aquí en el Centro ECC. Ella y su familia viven en Chicago y su comida favorita es la piza hecha al estilo Chicago. A ella le encanta viajar a Europa durante el verano y disfruta de visitar a sus familiares y amigos en Grecia e Italia. En Chicago ella y su hijo van frecuentemente al Museo de Niños y al Navy Pier.
