Our Parish Mission Statement The Parish of St. John Bosco is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual Catholic Faith community that proclaims Jesus Christ. In the spirit of St. John Bosco, we do this by being a Home that welcomes all especially the young and the poor; a School that prepares for life through religious, educational and social services; a Parish that evangelizes through Word & Sacrament, Worship and Faith Formation; a Playground where lasting friendship and relationships are formed and developed through recreational and social opportunities
From the Desk of Fr. Pat Happy Father’s Day to all our Dad’s!!! Recently I was reading a speech given by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of Philadelphia to a Catholic men’s conference in Arizona. There is so much to be shared from the speech, but, for today, there is one quote in particular which can help us understand fatherhood. John Chrysostom, the great saint of the early Eastern Church, described every human father as the Bishop of his family. All of you fathers are bishops. And every father shapes the soul of the next generation with his love, his self-mastery and his courage— or the lack of them. So what does that mean? It means the world needs faithful Catholic men, men with a hunger to be saints. The role of the Catholic husband and father— a man who sacrifices his own desires, out of love, to serve the needs of his wife and children— is the living cornerstone of a Christian home. There is so much to be said about this quote! Today we pray for our Dads living and deceased, who are the true “bishops” of our families. They have supported and support our Faith journey and lead us closer to God. We say thank you with this little poem: What Makes a Dad God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree, The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea, The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night, The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle’s flight, The joy of a morning in spring, The Faith of a mustard seed, The patience of eternity, The depth of a Family need, Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add, He knew his masterpiece was complete, And so, he called it..... Dad For our parish Dads that have gone before us! “May the winds of Heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear..... How much we love and miss you and wish that you were here” DAD A son’s first hero A daughter’s first love We are grateful for our Dads and we ask God to bless each and everyone of you! Thank you Dad! God bless you!
