Sergio Says… Eight years ago, no one

would have thought that world-famous singer, Britney Spears would ever regain control of her life.

In 2007, Britney was entangled in an ugly custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline and after a judge found that she engaged in "habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol," Britney lost custody of her children. As a result, Britney suffered a collapse of her career. Following a very public breakdown, she was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. While recovering there, Britney's lawyers were able to appoint her father as a "temporary conservator" that allowed him to legally control her treatment and daily life. This legal judgement was her saving grace as it stabilized her then flailing career. Since this very dark period, Britney’s life has been a series of achievements, including the release of 4 successful albums, and a lucrative Las Vegas contract. Britney also won visitation rights to her kids after her rehabilitation, and today enjoys joint custody of her children with Federline, who says they have forgiven each other after the nasty divorce, for the sake of their children. This perhaps is her greatest achievement of all! There is no doubt that Britney’s comeback was a collaborative effort. In overcoming her challenges, Britney involved her father and her attorneys to effectively use the legal system to get the help she needed, regain custody of her children, and continue to achieve even more success.
