Bendiciones, Padre Gerardo

PASTOR’S CORNER Dear Parishioners, Cardinal O’Malley has written; "One of the most pernicious effects of terrorism is that it can instill prejudices and group hatred in people’s hearts and minds. All of us are horrified by the evil perpetrated by radical terrorists, but we must not let their inhumanity rob us of our humanity." How can we be diverse yet united? This is a question facing the United States. Other countries face a similar issue. Voices of fear and hatred make the challenge more difficult. Holy Family Parish in all its glorious diversity stands as a beacon of hope in such a time. The forest of Christmas trees from various nations that heralded the Christmas season were a beautiful symbol of our community. Our faith unites us. This is the theme of an upcoming presentation by Msgr. Ray East on Friday evening, January 29th, 2016, 7:00 PM in Fr. Griffin Hall. See the bulletin and websites for details. Plan to join us and bring your friends! With the blessings of a New Year, a year of mercy...

2016 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal Begins! This month many of us will receive a mailing from Bishop Loverde regarding the 206 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA). The theme for the 2016 BLA is “Go forth as heralds of God’s mercy.” After reflecting upon the many blessings that God has given you, please prayerfully consider making a pledge of support to this important appeal that funds many programs ministries that serve the people in our diocese. Every pledge is an expression of God’s love a mercy!

Stewardship Reflections January 17, 2016

2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time “To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.” (1 CORINTHIANS 12:7) St. Paul tells us that God has blessed each of us for a reason. How has God blessed you? Are you using your gifts according to God’s plan; helping to do His work here on earth? Remember that if you don’t do the work God planned for you, no one else can do it.
