SAINT REPORT Saint reports are to reflect a particular saint you admire or who has meaning in your life; it is traditional to choose a new name other than your baptismal name with which to be confirmed. A good source of information on the lives of the saints is “Butler’s Lives of the Saints” as well as the internet under Catholic websites. However, do not copy word-for-word from either source; read the information on your chosen saint and then formulate your report.  Only names of saints canonized (named as saints by a Pope of the Church) are acceptable;  Completely fill out the “Confirmation Saint Name Report” form found on page 6. This report will include:   

a brief biography of your chosen saint (do not simply download it from the internet and turn it in as your own); an explanation of your chosen saint’s greatest gifts and/or teachings; an explanation as to why you admire the chosen saint and why you wish to take the saint’s name as well as how you hope to imitate your chosen saint.

Start on this early in your Confirmation preparation year; do not wait until the date your Works of Mercy are to due!!! Works of Mercy are to be done at the church and in the larger community. You are encouraged to do some of each. The minimum number of service hours required is 35. Of course, you may do more! Suggestions for the Works of Mercy are on pages 6-10. Deliver the letter to the Religious Education Office – do not give your letter directly to the Pastor, your teacher or the Directors of Religious Education and Youth Ministry! 9. CONFIRMATION TEST You will be given a Confirmation test in the spring of your Confirmation year. This will evaluate your understanding of the Sacrament of Confirmation. For those who fail the test. The Corporal Works of Mercy and kind acts by which we help our neighbors with their everyday material and physical needs. As followers of Jesus, we are inspired to be proactive in providing for the needs of others. As you do your Works of Mercy, consider how you might be Jesus’ hands and feet on earth. You must complete 35 hours of service by December 15, 2015. Your works should include projects outside of the church, so consider projects at school, in your neighborhood, and with other organizations. If in doubt about an outside project, contact the Youth Ministry Office for approval. You must provide a record of the hours, type of work and a supervisor’s signature. In the Religious Education Office will be a notebook in which you may sign up in advance for various projects. YOU are responsible for knowing when and where you have chosen to do your Works of Mercy. If you do not show up for an event without notice, you may be excluded from future events.

Again, please remember: If you sign up for something, you’re expected to be there on the designated day and time. Working hard while doing your services is a key part of the service (don’t be lazy or “goof off”). You must sign up in advance. Don’t wait until the last few weeks before your service hours/essay is due…get it done! If you have a question about your hours, contact the Religious Education Office or the Office of Youth Ministry for help. You must find your own service hours…the Youth Minister and the Office of Religious Education will not find them for you. Finally,

YOU are responsible for this and ONLY YOU!
