El Rinconcito del Padre

PASTOR’S CORNER

Estimados Feligreses,

Dear Parishioners,

There are two dates I would like you to place on your calendar and put on your refrigerator; January 29th and February 13th.

On Friday, January 29th at 6:30 pm, in Fr. Griffin Hall, we welcome Msgr. Ray East, a nationally recognized speaker and pastor, for a presentation on "ONE CHURCH: MANY CULTURES".

In a time when our society is grappling with racial and ethnic tensions, we as a faith community can provide a beacon of light, hope and mutual respect. May this evening of reflection foster in Holy Family, a very diverse parish, a deep desire for an ever more perfect union. Come and be a part of our spiritual growth. On Saturday, evening, February 13th, I urge you to join me for a parish wide Valentine's Party. A chef who has worked at the Spanish Embassy will provide a gourmet supper. There will be an opportunity to renew vows and to bless friends. Come dine and dance together as the Beloved Community. Tickets are available for $35 a person after the weekend Masses and at the parish office during the week. Remember the words of Martin Luther King; "Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that" and Jesus' law; Love one another as I have loved you.

Blessings, Fr. Gerry Creedon

Bendiciones, Padre Gerardo

2016 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal Begins! This month many of us will receive a mailing from Bishop Loverde regarding the 206 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA). The theme for the 2016 BLA is “Go forth as heralds of God’s mercy.” After reflecting upon the many blessings that God has given you, please prayerfully consider making a pledge of support to this important appeal that funds many programs ministries that serve the people in our diocese. Every pledge is an expression of God’s love a mercy!

Stewardship Reflections January 24, 2016 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time “Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared…” (NEHEMIAH 8:10) Ezra’s instructions to the people show us that God does not forbid us from enjoying the good things in life, he wants us to be happy! However, He expects us to generously share our blessings with those who are in need, without expecting anything in return.
