Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano INFANT BAPTISMAL MINISTRY Is hospitality your gift? Do you like to help people feel comfortable and welcomed? Then the infant baptismal ministry is a perfect opportunity to exercise your gift in our community of young parents. Join our baptismal team of 3-4 people assisting our deacon and priests with the baptism of infants. Two teams alternate every other month on third Sunday (you would be helping only 5 times a year) from 2:15 to 4:00 PM in the basilica. Some of the tasks include greeting the parents, godparents, family and friends, assisting them as they find their place in the pews, filling the font with water, lighting candles, setting out the oils, distributing baptismal candles, certificates, garments, making announcements, proclaiming the reading, preparing the area by the baptismal font, assisting the deacon during the baptismal rite……. Mission Hospital Spiritual Care Volunteer Training Mission Hospital is offering a training program for Spiritual Care Volunteers for both the Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach Campuses to begin Wednesday, September 13, 2017. The training consists of 10 classes in which you will develop skills for visiting patients. Applicants must be adults of generosity and compassion, plus understand spirituality as a necessary element of patient care. Spiritual Care Volunteers will be asked to devote a minimum of 100 hours annually to patient visits. After your application is received, you will be notified to come in for an interview.

As a baptized Christian, visiting the sick is one of our corporal works of mercy. A number of people in our parish are already Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick and Homebound and are visiting the many people of our parish who are not able to attend mass each week. They bring Holy Communion and spend some time in prayer with them. Yet, we need more people to fulfill this ministry demand. If you have a desire to be of service to those who are homebound, please contact Eileen at 949-234-1354 or [email protected]. Qualifications of an EMHC to the sick and homebound are: (a) practicing Catholic, (b) have completed all Sacraments of Initiation, (c) safe environment trained. Artists’ Retreat Day at Mission Basilica and Mission San Juan Capistrano “You are custodians of beauty.” Pope Benedict XVI Gather with artists (professional and amateur) from our community to reflect on our call to be “custodians of beauty.” The retreat will include continental breakfast, prayer, and a brief introduction to Pope Benedict’s message to artists. At 9 AM, you are invited to work en plein air on the Old Mission grounds or anywhere in the vicinity. We will gather again at 12 noon for a simple lunch and to display and share what we have accomplished during the morning. We will adjourn by 1 PM. The students had a wonderful time learning about animal camouflage, classifications, adaptations and habitats. It was a fun filled educational day! Now Enrolling age 2 to grade 8. PREGUNTA DE REFLEXION DE LA SEMANA La Santísima Trinad 11 de junio de 2017 Éxodo 34:4b-6, 8-9 2 Corintios 13:11-13 Tema: “Un solo Señor, una sola fe, un solo Bautismo, un solo Dios y Padre”

Ciclo A Juan 3:16-18

MENSAJE DE LA SEMANA: Si hemos vivido un poco la liturgia de estos meses, recordaremos que se nos ha hablado del PADRE, del HIJO, y también del ESPÍRITU SANTO. Continuamente han sido nombrados. En la fiesta de hoy los contemplamos a los tres JUNTOS: es la fiesta de la TRINIDAD. Esto es: la fiesta de DIOS-COMUNIDAD. Éste es el significado de este día. Algunos dirán: “es un gran misterio”. Otros podemos afirmar: “Sí, es un MISTERIO DE AMOR”. Dios es así y así se nos manifiesta: es un Dios fiel, a pesar de la infidelidad de su pueblo; es un Dios cercano al pueblo, aunque éste se aleje de Él; es un Dios al que nosotros podemos llamar “PADRE” y nos ha hecho hijos adoptivos. ¿Es difícil creer en DIOS-TRINIDAD? ¿Es difícil entenderle? Tanto como aceptar que DIOS es AMOR y que quien ama, sabe mucho de Dios y quien no ama (aunque lo diga) sabe poco de Dios. ¡DICHOSO quien cree en el DIOS-AMOR, porque tendrá luz en su vida!

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE En Uruguay se celebra la fiesta patronal más grande durante el mes de junio. Celebran a san Cono, un santo italiano del siglo doce. En el siglo diecinueve los inmigrantes italianos que vivían en Uruguay deseaban tener una capilla para honrar la memoria de este santo, oriundo de la provincia de Salerno, Italia. En junio de 1885, las campanas de una modesta capillita anunciaron el recibimiento de una imagen de san Cono que llegó en procesión. Desde entonces esta costumbre italiana se fue haciendo parte integral de la devoción cristiana en Uruguay. Cono fue el hijo único de una pareja anciana que vivía en la ciudad de Teggiano, Salerno. Según la leyenda, una noche mientras dormían, esta pareja soñó un cono de luz que brotaba de la madre. Al nacer el niño decidieron llamarlo Cono. Desde muy niño, Cono mostró un afán por las cosas de Dios y a los dieciséis años ingresó a un monasterio benedictino siguiendo el consejo de una voz interior que lo invitaba a consagrase al Señor. Hagamos el compromiso de crecer más en oración en la familia. Rezar con el Rosario por los hijos y con los hijos, educándolos desde su tierna edad para este momento cotidiano de “intervalo de oración” de la familia, es una ayuda espiritual que no se debe minimizar.

El domingo de la santísima Trinidad, la Iglesia celebra la solemnidad del santísimo Cuerpo y Sangre del Señor. La procesión de la solemnidad del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo significa prolongar la celebración de la Eucaristía. Antes de la Misa, la Hostia consagrada se conduce fuera de la iglesia para que el pueblo cristiano "dé un testimonio público de fe y de veneración al Santísimo Sacramento". Por eso: el próximo domingo, 18 de junio a las 12:15 pm comenzaremos la procesión.

“Visitar a los Enfermos” Como Cristianos bautizados, el visitar a los enfermos es una de las obras corporales de misericordia. Varias personas de nuestra parroquia que ya son Ministros Extraordinarios de la Eucaristía para los Enfermos de nuestra comunidad que no pueden asistir a misa cada semana. Ellos llevan la Santa Comunión y pasan un tiempo en oración con ellos. Sin embargo necesitamos mas personas para poder cumplir con la demanda de este ministerio.
