Please pray for those in nursing homes, the families of the sick, caregivers, the military and their families, and for the following: Larry Amdahl, Paula Beauchene, Angeles Beltran, Nancy Bishop, Elizabeth Block-Kloss, Dr. Dennis Clifford, Mark Clifford, Jim Cole, Jeff Eddins, Marie Edquist, Helen Eisel, Lucy Erhard, April Evans, Lyle Franke, Adrian Vela Garay, Fr. Ralph Goman, Ed Glassgow, Lu Gragert, Ted Hagert, Amy Hennen, Jacob Jelinek, Lucille Jones, Luke Julien, Mary Lou Keller, Kirsten and Hamilton Kurtz, Ann Marie Larson, Ron Loeffler, Teresa Lucken, Barbara Mackintosh, Pat Malinowski, Sr. Agnes Martinka, Sandy Muschenheim, Elsie June Phillips, Vicente Pulido, Bob (Whimpy) Quinn, Bernie Reid, Margaret Reinhardt, Eugene Rohrbeck, Muriel Ryan, Mardie Rydell, Loraine Schwinn, Mary Seurer, Sandy Sperrazza, Kathy Spitzner, Dario Vizcarra Tapia, Janelle VanLith, Geri VanLith, Mrs. John Vilipski, Laura Wotta, and Elias Youngblom Deceased: Please pray for the repose of the soul of Art Bell, husband of Pat Bell, and pray for their family and friends who mourn him.

Dear Parishioners, Usually when an adult decides to join the Catholic faith, the parish has the opportunity to pray with and encourage the candidate as he/she takes the RCIA classes and celebrates the various rites that are a part of converting. There is a richness and beauty in the ritual, as we walk together liturgically with those who are preparing to enter into full communion with us and share in the Body and Blood of Christ. This process does take time, however, and there are exceptions when circumstances warrant. Art Bell, husband of parishioner Pat Bell, was in home hospice when Deacon Francis asked if he would like a regular visit, to which he said he would. Four weeks ago, Art said that he would like to become Catholic. The next day, the deacon and I came by, Art made a profession of faith, and he received the sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion. He (and Pat!) were very joyful, and a bit surprised at how quickly he was able to go from “I’d like to become Catholic” to “I’m Catholic.” But, when you’re in hospice, we don’t waste any time. This Tuesday at 11:00am at St. Joseph campus, the parish will pray for Art at his funeral, as he died on the 21st. While the parish celebrated his conversion in the persons of the few of us who were present, the larger parish did not have that opportunity, so if you are free, it would be wonderful to have you at the funeral. In any event, I did not want this joyful event of his conversion to pass unnoticed by our parish family, so I’m telling the story here. Please pray for the soul of this newest member of our faith, and pray for those who mourn him. –Fr. Liekhus

June 26, 2016 13 Sunday in Ordinary Time “For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather serve one another through love.” GALATIANS 5:13 We like to celebrate the fact that we are free to “live the good life.” But Jesus calls us to a different kind of freedom. St. Paul reminds us that Jesus sets us free so that we can serve one another, share our gifts and promote God’s work here on earth to glorify His name and not honor ourselves. Join us in our 2016 Stewardship efforts to Grow as Disciples by serving one another and sharing the gifts that have been entrusted to us. Youth Formation, School & Parish News FAITH FORMATION NEWS FAITH SERVICE CAMP The deadline for registering your middle school youth for this amazing week of service and fun is quickly approaching! Registration forms must be received by Friday July 1. Youth who will be in 6th – 9th grade next year are invited to be a part of our first Faith Service Camp July 18-22. We will be helping many organizations that address issues of hunger, housing, the environment, and more. Afternoon fun includes movies, messy games, beach day, and VALLEY FAIR trip on Friday, July 22. Friends are welcome too. Don’t miss out! Call Cindy with questions (952-540-4762). NURSERY We continue to look for adults and youth to be a part of our nursery team. Consider volunteering once a month for a Mass time DIFFERENT from the Mass you generally worship at (that way, you can still attend during your favorite time). You’ll love the children who come to the nursery, you’ll meet some other wonderful volunteers, and you’ll be helping our parish mission of bringing the Gospel to these youngest members and their families. Contact Alyssa Berner ([email protected]) or Cindy Novak ([email protected]; 952-540-4762) to begin your ministry with the nursery.
