Dear Parishioners, Last weekend, Joe Fish spoke about how he found it interesting to be a trustee of the parish and attend many of the leadership meetings. He then shared some of the things that were going on, but lamented that he only had a few minutes to speak when he could go on for an hour. So let’s plan on going on for an hour! Sometime in January, I think I should have a “state of the parish” presentation. That sentence is about as far as we are in the planning process. Who will speak, what topics will be covered, when it will take place, where it will take place, etc., are all yet to be determined. As we plan, it would be helpful to know if there are general areas in which you are interested, and specific questions you’d like to see answered. Should we cover mission and vision? Finances? Catholic education? How much coffee we go through in a year? Please let me know! Fr. Liekhus Come to Me all who labor and are burdened… Jesus continues to ask us to come to Him. Miracles happen in Adoration. Please consider joining our community of a rers and commit to one hour with our r Adorers are needed for the following hours: Sunday at 2 p.m. & 11 p.m., Monday at 12 a.m. midnight and 7 a.m. Tuesday at 11 p.m., Wednesday at 7 p.m. & Saturday at 11 a.m. For information or to register to adore Our Lord, please call Barb: (952) 933-8423 Luis Becerra: (612) 600-6821, or Roberta: (952) 935-1774, r ee s@ tma c m Kansas pastor Jack Wellman has been credited with the insight that “there is a certain genius in generosity.” He explains that when we open our hands — figuratively speaking — to allow something to pass through our fingers, rather than holding it with tightly clenched fists, God can give us new blessings. “God cannot pour more into hands that are already clinging tightly to what they hold,” says Wellman. Whether material goods or time, ideas or talents, money or energy, the gifts God has given us so generously are to be shared just as freely with others. With our hands continually open to receive, give and receive again, God’s genius cycle of generosity goes on and on.

Nocturnal Adoration Society Not able to commit to a regular hour each week of Eucharistic Adoration? Is Eucharistic Adoration a new form of prayer for you? Members of the Nocturnal Adoration Society are called to spend one hour, once a month, during the hours of the night in prayer before the Eucharist. The St. Gabriel Nocturnal Society meets every FIRST FRIDAY of the month in the chapel at St. Joseph campus, from 8:00 to 11:00pm. The next evening of Nocturnal Adoration is Friday, December 7. We invite all parishioners to come to the chapel at 8:00, 9:00, or 10:00pm and “spend one hour with Him.” Our monthly hour before the Blessed Sacrament is a mixture of read prayer and responses from the “Office of the Blessed Sacrament,” the official prayer book of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, and silent individual prayer. Join us once a month for an hour to explore how Eucharistic Adoration can deepen your experience of communion with Christ Eucharistic!

Entrusted With A Mission Our Increased Offertory Program Commitment Sunday is this weekend at all Masses. We encourage all parishioners to complete and turn in your commitment cards to the church. The Commitment Card contains information on how to plan your increased offertory gift to the church, and asks for your commitment over the next year. If you have any questions regarding this program, or how to give electronically, please contact the parish office.

Fellowship 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Nov. 18, 2018) (Dn 12:1-3; Heb 10:11-14, 18; Mk 13:24-32) The book of Daniel was written at a time of great persecution to give people hope. Today's reading from Daniel is about the end times. Despite all appearances, the good will triumph. They shall “shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament.” What a comfort this message is when the news is so full of tragedy and horrors. The Gospel is also about the end times. Mark warns of ominous signs yet to come. Like Daniel, this reading also predicts an eventual vindication for the faithful. In saying these things, Jesus was preparing his disciples for the hard times to come after his crucifixion. But regarding that eventual vindication, Jesus cautions them against predicting the exact time. This is a challenge for us today in a world where prediction of everything from the weather to eclipses to political elections has been raised to a fine art. Paul's letter to the Hebrews, our second reading, is about the perfect efficacy of Christ's sacrifice. The concept of forgiveness of sins was foreign to the Jews, so Paul makes a special point of reminding them, and us, that Christ really does forgive sin – totally and completely and forever. • • • •

Are there times when I have a hard time feeling forgiven? When have I been forgiven and really felt it? How can we apply the lesson of the fig tree from Mark's Gospel today? When Christ said, “...this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place,” what do you think he meant? Is it a future generation that Christ is referring to, i.e., the people living when the predicted events and signs do occur? Describe your feelings as you picture the “Son of Man coming in the clouds” in our time. Does it fill you with joy? Fear? Excitement? Relief?

For more information or to sign up for a small group, contact Karen Fish at 952-239-1949. Loaves and Fishes on Monday, November 19 Sign-up in the foyer at St. John campus or the east entrance at St. Joseph campus to help prepare the meal at St. Joseph campus at 3:00pm or to set-up, serve or clean-up after the meal. Volunteers ministering with Loaves and Fishes should be trained in Virtus/Safe Environment. See elsewhere in the bulletin for details on upcoming training. Loaves and Fishes' dining sites are open to all—serving anyone in need of a nutritious meal. Whether it's a search for nourishment or to combat loneliness (or both) we help feed those in need while also strengthening communities. Loaves & Fishes' volunteers are at the heart of every meal. Volunteers may include adults, high school youth, college students, families, children (age 8-16) who are accompanied with at least one parent, those completing service learning hours or community service, and/or special groups like Boys/Girls Scouts, and sports teams. Volunteer shifts are 2-3 hours each. Some volunteers prepare the meal (no special cooking skills required); while others serve the meal, spend time with guests, and wash dishes, tables and floors. Volunteers may offer their time routinely or on a one-time-only basis. Those who feel connected to our mission and would like to learn how to help should contact our volunteer coordinator at 952-223-7223 or [email protected]. ¿Finanzas? Educación católica? ¿Cuánto café tomamos en un año? ¡Por favor háganmelo saber! Padre Liekhus …..
