Monday, April 15, is our Parish Day for Lenten Confessions. The schedule is printed in the bulletin. We will have Confessions all day from 6:30AM to 9:30PM, so that all can have an opportunity to make their Easter Duty and receive the Eucharist on Easter Sunday. This is a moment of grace for the parish. Remember: there is NO SIN so great or so big that God will not forgive. He loves us. He wants to give us His mercy, His love, His pardon. Don’t be concerned about how long it has been since your last confession: 10, 20 40, 50 years— God’s mercy and love have no time limits. He is just waiting for us to come to Him. The priest is there to help you; don’t be afraid! When we come to confession, we should make sure we examine our conscience well and make an integral confession, telling all of our serious sins. The best way to prepare is to go through the Ten Commandments; however, sometimes if we can’t remember all the Commandments or are uncertain, we might simply focus on the word “JOY”— which is how we feel after making a good Confession! “JOY” helps you to think about your relationship with Jesus, your relationship with others and your relationship with yourself! Jesus: do I strive to have a personal relationship with Jesus? Do I go to Mass every Sunday? Do I pray? Do I use God’s name with disrespect? Do I place other gods (money, things, work, persons) before Jesus in my life? Others: Do I respect others? Do I reach out to those in need? Do I gossip or lie about others? Am I jealous of others? Do I lack charity in my thoughts, words or actions toward others? Do I cheat or steal from others? Do I respect the environment in which we live? Yourself: Do I respect myself and the gifts God gave me? Do I care for my spiritual health? Do I pray? Do I abuse my body through over-eating or drinking, drugs or inappropriate sexual activities? Do I “let myself go” by not taking proper care of my hygiene and how I look and present myself? I am God’s creation and God did not make junk! Monday is a chance for us to make our Lenten journey complete by being reconciled to God, to the Church, to one another, and to ourselves through a good Confession. I want to invite all of you: Come, the Father is waiting to embrace you in His love and forgiveness! God bless you!

Eu respeito o ambiente onde eu vivo? Eu convido a vocês?

The focus of the Gospel reading today is on Jesus’ grand entrance into Jerusalem, and then on the events of his passion and death. In today’s Gospel Jesus journeys toward his death on the cross. According to Pilate, Jesus has done nothing to deserve death, yet the crowd shouts, “crucify him.” Jesus is innocent, yet the people want him punished. Jesus has compassion on the people who condemn him, he asks God to forgive them because they do not know what they are doing. God Bless You! Reflections of the Week: How can you help people who are sick? How can the symbol of the cross help people who are going through hard times? Let us pray. Loving God, thank you for sending your son Jesus who died on the cross to give us new life. Help us to get ready for the joy of Jesus’ new life at Easter. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
