A. Car Seat Training Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death of children in the US. Many injuries and deaths related to traffic crashes occur as a result of the high misuse rate of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts. In this training, we will discuss the proper selection, installation, and use of car seats and booster seats and to know when to move to seat belts once booster seats are outgrown. -Elissa Gray & Mary Heck
D. First Aid/CPR Mr. Earl Ostrander, Jr has been teaching CPR, AED, Basic First Aid for 20 years and LifeGuarding since 1977. He started lifeguarding in his home town of Wildwood, NJ as a member of the Beach Patrol and now he teaches at other locations. He retired from full time EMT in 2008 and now travels the US teaching. -Earl Ostrander
B. Preparing Children for Family Visits Agencies recognize that children have various responses to visits with their families. Many times, there are adverse reactions, complicated questions and unresolved issues that cause difficulty for the Resource Parents. This training will take a trauma-informed approach to understanding visits, creating routines and learning how to deescalate unwanted behaviors. -Bethany M. Brown
E. Trauma Informed Parenting & Discipline Children who experience trauma respond to discipline in different ways. This training helps parents and foster parents understand a slightly different approach to parenting and discipline. Attachments are talked about as a means to promote healthy relationships between caregiver and child. -Rebecca Cade
C. Entendiendo el Trauma el Los Niños (Spanish Presentation) La majoria de los niños bajo el cuidado del condado experiencia trauma. Este entrenamiento se centrará en la comprensión de cómo el trauma en los niños difiere de los adultos. Vamos a cubrir el desarrollo cerebral de los niños, los efectos del trauma en su desarrollo y lo que puedes hacer para ayudar al niño en la recuperación -Liza Alverado
F. Preparando a Los Niños Para Las Visitas Familiares (Spanish Presentation) Las agencias reconocen que los niños tienen diferentes respuestas a las visitas con sus familias.
