Child Protection Certification Course: Please note that ALL ministry members must complete the Child Protection Certification Course to participate in any activities involving the youth of the Parish. Lecturing teenagers may feel like the right path to take, especially if they are starting to develop bad habits or make poor choices, but lecturing is usually the least effective way to get your message across. Children tend to see lectures as condescending and abstract, and this detracts from the wisdom and advice you are trying to provide. Instead of lecturing, try to engage your child in calm, open conversation that addresses the issue while allowing you both to talk about what’s going on.
