Jan. 24th Sunday:
Nehemiah 8:2-10; 1 Cor 12:12-30; Luke 1:1-4, 4:14-21
Jan. 25th Monday: Feast Day: St. Paul, the Apostle Acts 22:3-16; Mark 16:15-18 Jan. 26th Tuesday: Feast Day St. Timothy & Titus 2 Timothy 1:1-8 Mark 3:31-35 Jan. 27th Wednesday: 2 Samuel 7:4-17; Mark 4:1-20
Our first reading sets the stage for today’s Gospel. Both stories tell of the proclamation of God’s word in the midst of the assembly, and of how that word is being fulfilled. Saint Paul today proclaims that we are members of Christ’s body. As members of that body, we are compelled to continue the mission that Jesus proclaims. Now that Ordinary Time is under way, we will be hearing from Luke’s Gospel for most of the year. This week, Jesus returns home to Nazareth and in a simple yet dramatic way announces his mission. As we gather to celebrate the Good News of God’s presence in our midst, let us take to heart the mission of Jesus and pray for the grace to carry it out in our own lives.
Jan. 28th Thursday: Feast Day: St. Thomas Aquinas 1 Samuel 18:6-9; Mark 3:7-12 Jan. 29th Friday: 2 Samuel 11:1-4; Mark 4:26-34 th
