Dear parish family, 3 Sunday Ordinary Time C The words that surround us in the news and social media can be sources of information or misinformation. They can enlighten and give peace or distort and disturb our view of persons and events. In the information age, words are weapons that either dignify and build up or hurt and bring down. Today, we renew our trust in God’s word that always builds us up and strengthens us with truth and wisdom. Surrounded as we are by the incessant traffic of words in news, opinions and social media, we turn each day to the certainty of God’s word for wisdom and light. The Word of God proclaimed to us at Mass or what we have read privately should impact our life, lead us also to touch the lives of others, and then transform the world we live. That’s practically what the Gospel message this Sunday. Jesus translates into life what the Word of God says, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled.” He applies to himself what he read from Scriptures. And this should happen to us also. What is important for us today is that we do our part as Christians, share and fulfill the mission of the Lord in whatever state of life we are, be married, single, young or old, professional or not. In the second reading this Sunday, we are reminded that we are like parts of one living body. There is nothing small or big in the body that is not important. Each is important and each part of the body compliments one another. We have different roles in life yet we are one living unit that in a way one cannot live without the other. In short we just do our part in way possible for us to live our Christian life. For if we do this, at least in a little way we also fulfill what the Lord wants us to fulfill, that is – not only to announce and share the Good News to the world but also become ourselves the “good news” in the world we live. Every time we gather to celebrate the Eucharist, we proclaim and celebrate the Good News of our salvation. We should leave after Mass, repeating the same words as Jesus, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in my life." Blessings to all and have a good week! Fr. P. Tony
