Dear Families, Thank you for all that you have done! Our IB visit went well, and I look forward to sharing the results from the meeting at “Meet the Director”, this week. I want to thank everyone for your words of encouragement and support! Academic Updates 1. Common Assessments begin next week first period. It is critical your scholar is here on time to take these end of the quarter examinations. 2. 504 Coordinator ‐ I want to thank Mr. Richards for his service as our 504 Coordinator. Mr. Richards will still be with us as the Dean of Academics. Mrs. Curry will be the 504 Coordinator beginning in January as she is also our Interventionist. She will be contacting 504 parents soon! 3. Grades – please be sure to login to PowerSchool to view your scholars’ grades. Mrs. Kirby can provide you your login if you have misplaced it. Please call the front desk. 4. Science Fair – our science fair is coming up on December 14th from 4:00 – 5:30. 5. Missing work – it is critical that you work with your scholar and teacher to make up missing work before the end of the quarter. Please work with your scholar and their teacher to work on grades. Parent Meetings 1. Meet the Director is December 15th at 5:00 P.M. I will share our data with you at that time, as well as updates regarding our field trips. Every grade will attend two field trips between January and May. Scholars voted on one field trip, and teachers voted on the other one. Please come if you are interested in volunteering or providing input. 2. Washington D.C. Field Trips Meeting at 6:00 and 7:00: Mrs. Pitts will lead field trip meetings over the summer for a limited amount of scholars interested in going to D.C. Lastly, but very importantly, the application for next school year is open as of Dec 1st. If your scholar has a sibling in grades 6th – 8th grade, it is critical that you note that on the application when you apply for sibling preference. Please let your colleagues and friends know about our application! The best grade to enter is 6th grade as our waiting list over 300 scholars. With gratitude, Mrs. Barochin

Barochin
