The road to SUCCESS
We are off to a great start for the 2019 school year. There is a lot of learning happening here at Cooper Elementary. January is our midpoint in the year when we check student progress and reflect on what our students have learned. Along with working to develop academic knowledge, we have been working and will continue to work on social and emotional development. We have high expectations for our school environment to be conducive to learning. Rachel’s Challenge will continue to be a catalyst of our kindness and compassion campaign. I’m currently reading the book, Making Thinking Visible by Ritchart, Church and Morrison. It’s interesting to learn about the connection between thinking, engagement and understanding. We will work diligently to allow opportunities in the classroom that help foster higher level questioning and a deeper reflection into student learning. We appreciate all of our students who work hard each day to be sucCESsful. #riseupbulldogs

The 3rd-5th grade students are about to start Benchmark testing to prepare for the STAAR tests (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness). The benchmark test “results provide actionable data that will help parents, teachers, and students improve academic performance in reading, writing and math. The best way to prepare your child for the STAAR testing is by devoting time and effort to helping your child learn. Stay involved in your child’s education, and keep in mind that standardized tests, while giving you insight, are not the final say on how much your child is learning or how well they will do in life or even in academics.” www.time4learning.com
January is School Board Appreciation Month, so if you see any of the following board members, give them a big thanks for all that they do for Cooper ISD! They work with our community to improve student achievement, establish and adopt policies, curriculum and budgets and oversee facility issues. The music classes for 3rd-5th grade will be learning how to play the recorders soon! If you would like to purchase one for your child, please fill out the form that was sent home and return it with payment by January 25th.
Next week the High School Student Council will be sending order forms over for Valentine’s Crush orders! If your child participated in UIL this year, they will be coming home with a permission slip for a reward field trip. Students will be traveling to Urban Air Trampoline Park in Rockwall on Tuesday, February 12th. The cost will be $10. The money and permission slips are due back to Mrs. Randle by Wednesday, January 30th. *There will also be a short UIL award ceremony at 7:50 on that Tuesday morning the 12th before we load the buses to leave. Parents are more than welcome to come. It will be held in the cafeteria.

Hemos tenido un gran comienzo para el año escolar 2019. Hay un Mucho aprendizaje está sucediendo aquí en Cooper Elementary. Enero es nuestro punto medio en el año cuando verificamos el progreso de los estudiantes y reflexionamos sobre lo que nuestros alumnos han aprendido Junto con el trabajo para el desarrollo académico. Conocimiento, hemos estado trabajando y continuaremos trabajando en el desarrollo social y emocional. Tenemos altas expectativas de que nuestro entorno escolar sea propicio para el aprendizaje. El Reto de Rachel seguirá siendo un catalizador de nuestra campaña de bondad y compasión. Actualmente estoy leyendo el libro, Haciendo visible el pensamiento por Ritchart, Church y Morrison. Es interesante aprender acerca de la conexión entre pensamiento, compromiso y comprensión. Trabajaremos diligentemente para permitir oportunidades en el aula que ayuden a fomentar preguntas de mayor nivel y una reflexión más profunda en el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Apreciamos a todos nuestros estudiantes que trabajan arduamente cada día para ser exitosos. #riseupbulldogs

Los estudiantes de 3er a 5to grado están a punto de comenzar los exámenes de referencia para prepararse para los exámenes STAAR (Evaluación de la preparación académica del estado de Texas). Los resultados de la prueba de referencia “proporcionan datos procesables que ayudarán a los padres, maestros y estudiantes a mejorar el rendimiento académico en lectura, escritura y matemáticas. ¡La próxima semana el Consejo Estudiantil de la Escuela Secundaria enviará formularios de pedido para las órdenes de Valentine 'Crush! Si su hijo participó en UIL este año, volverá a casa con un formulario de permiso para una excursión de recompensa. Los estudiantes viajarán a Urban Air Trampoline Park en Rockwall el martes 12 de febrero. El costo será de $ 10. El dinero y hojas de permiso se deben volver a Sra. Randle por Miércoles, 30 de enero. * También habrá una breve ceremonia de entrega de premios de UIL a las 7:50 de ese martes por la mañana el 12 antes de que carguemos los autobuses para salir.
