The road to SUCCESS

CES Families, I would like to take this opportunity to describe the exciting adventure that our students get to enjoy each Friday called Genius Hour. Before each grade level participates in Genius Hour, Mrs. Silman has a class meeting which relates to soft skills such as listening, respect, work ethic, integrity, character, etc. During Genius Hour, our students get to participate in engaging stations led by our awesome staff members. For example, Mrs. Davis leads storytime where the students get to listen and use their imagination while she tells a story like only Mrs. Davis can. Next, they rotate to Mr. Spangler where he teaches them about all things related to technology such as coding. They also get to learn through movement with Mrs. Colclasure where they have been introduced to line-dancing. Another engaging station is Mrs. Hudson’s creative writing. Students listen to a story and make up their own ending while collaborating with each other. After getting their creative juices flowing, they get to participate in recreational activities with Mrs. Reed and have been having a ton of fun playing minute to win it games. Last but surely not least, students are exposed to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with Mrs. Hayner. She has planned activities that allow students to participate in live science exploration related to real-world problem based learning. The students have had a great response to Genius Hour. We look forward to continued growth through participation in these engaging activities.

Send a Crush a Crush for Valentine’s Day! Students in 2nd - 5th grades wil have the opportunity to participate in a special "Heart Challenge" sponsored by the American Heart Association. This was formerly called "Jump Rope for Heart". The "kick-off" day wil be this Friday, February 8th during PE time. Students will learn all about the event and will be given the opportunity to participate in the fundraising part of the program. Students will come home with an envelope this Friday and may ask for donations which will go directly to the American Heart Association. As a bonus, the more money each student raises, the more prizes they can earn. All envelopes and online donations will be due Friday, February 22nd.

free event Cooper Elementary PTO is hosting a BINGO night in the cafeteria on Monday, February 11th from 5:30-6:30 PM! There will be some great prizes so come on out! We’ll also have a brief Title 1 Parent Meeting to discuss how Title 1 funds are spent to ensure we are meeting the needs of at-risk students.

CHS Student Council are taking Crush orders. A drink and candy will be delivered to students for $3.50. Extra forms are available in the office. The order deadline is February 6th.

There will be a short UIL award ceremony Tuesday, February 12th at 7:50AM in the cafeteria. The UIL students will then leave for their Urban Air field trip.

Familias del CES, Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para describir la emocionante Aventura que nuestros alumnos disfrutan cada viernes llamada Genio. Hora. Antes de que cada nivel de grado participe en Genius Hour, la Sra. Silman tiene una reunión de clase que se relaciona con habilidades sociales tales como escuchar, respetar, ética de trabajo, integridad, carácter, etc. Durante la Hora del genio, nuestros estudiantes pueden participar en estaciones atractivas dirigidas por nuestros increíbles miembros del personal. Por ejemplo, la Sra. Davis dirige la hora del cuento donde los estudiantes escuchan y usan su imaginación mientras ella cuenta una historia como solo la Sra. Davis puede. A continuación, pasan al Sr. Spangler, donde les enseña todo lo relacionado con la tecnología, como la codificación. También aprenden a través del movimiento con la Sra. ¡Envíe un enamorado para el día de San Valentín! Los estudiantes de 2º a 5º grado tendrán la oportunidad de participar en un "Desafío del corazón" especial patrocinado por la Asociación Americana del Corazón. Esto se l amaba anteriormente "Jump Rope for Heart". El día de "inicio" será este viernes 8 de febrero durante el horario de educación física. Los estudiantes aprenderán todo sobre el evento y se les dará la oportunidad de participar en la parte de recaudación de fondos del programa. Los estudiantes vendrán a casa con un sobre este viernes y pueden solicitar donaciones que irán directamente a la American Heart Association. Como beneficio adicional, cuanto más dinero recauda cada estudiante, más premios pueden ganar. Todos los sobres y las donaciones en línea se entregarán el viernes 22 de febrero.
