April 23, 2018 Dear Parents of Inter-district Students, Meadows Union Elementary School District has passed a resolution as per Ed Code Section 48301 to become a “School District of Choice”. Starting in the 2018-19 school year, the District will accept students who reside in other California districts, but wish to attend Meadows Union School. Attached to this letter is a Transfer application for your child for next year, along with information regarding questions that you might have about this change. It is important to note that for the 2018-19 school year the deadline to apply for District of Choice has been extended by the District only until May 1, 2018. Additionally, while we expect sending districts to honor that extension, they are not required to do so. Therefore, for the coming school year, Meadows Union is requesting Inter-district Transfer students to complete BOTH the traditional Inter-district Transfer that you have always done AND the new District of Choice application. The good thing for parents is that you will not need to complete a request every year, once your child is accepted under the District of Choice policy. 23 de abril de 2018 Estimados Padres de Alumnos Inter-Distrital Escolar, El Distrito Escolar de Meadows Union ha pasado una resolucion por medio del Codigo de Educación Sección 48301 para ser una “Opcion de Escojer su Distrito Escolar” (School District of Choice). Empezando el año escolar del 2018-19, el Distrito aceptará alumnos que residan en otros Distritos Escolares de California y desean matricularse en la Escuela de Meadows Union. Adjunto con esta carta, se encuentra una solicitud de transferimiento escolar (Transfer) para su hijo(a) para proximo año escolar y con informacion sobre preguntas que usted tendra sobre este cambio. Es importante que anote para el año escolar 2018-19 la fecha de vencimiento para aplicar “Escojer su Distrito” se ha extendido por el Distrito unicamente hasta 1 de mayo, 2018. Adicionalmente, mientras nosotros avisamos a otros distritos para que honoren esta extension, ellos no se les requiere hacerlo. Sin embargo, para el proximo año escolar, la Escuela de Meadows Union pide que todo alumno Inter-Distrital complete las DOS solicitudes, la forma tradicional Inter-Distrital que usted siempre ha llenado y entregado cada año Y la solicitud nueva Escojer su Distrito. Esto sera bueno para los padres porque no tendran que completarlo cada año mientras y cuando su hijo(a) se acepta bajo la poliza del Escojer su Distrito. Favor de leer la informacion cuidadosamente y si usted tiene preguntas, favor llame a la oficina escolar y hable con Sr. Garcia al 352-7512 x 1050 o Sra. De La Garza al 352-7512 x 1053.
