Spanish Immersion Book Fair Nov. 27-Dec. 1 Our Escondido librarian, Nina Bailey, has hand-picked a wonderful selection of books from our Spanish book provider, Lectorum. We will have many new titles across all genres - fiction, science, biographies, history and more – including many award-winning books originally written in Spanish and popular books translated to Spanish. This is a great opportunity to buy books for the year for your kids and their classrooms and Holiday presents! All books will be discounted 10% off list price, and a percentage of all sales will be donated to our Escondido library. Solar Panels Proposed for Escondido The Energy program of the PAUSD Facilities department has organized a Solar Panel proposal to generate electricity for the school and at the same time create a shade structure for the back blacktop. The proposal goes to the school board tonight when we will hear more details about the proposal. Paneles Solar Propuestos para Escondido El programa de Energía del departamento de Instalaciones de PAUSD ha organizado una propuesta de Panel Solar para generar electricidad para la escuela y al mismo tiempo crear una estructura de sombra para el asfalto trasero. La propuesta va al consejo escolar esta noche cuando escucharemos más detalles sobre la propuesta.

A Message from Stanford University about construct on Escondido Road

Stanford University is building a new home for the Children’s Center of the Stanford Community (CCSC). CCSC has served the university community for decades as a highly regarded, parent-cooperative early education program. The current location of CCSC is near Stanford Federal Credit Union off of Serra Street. The program is in modular buildings that are well past their useful life. In 2016, Stanford identified an opportunity to repurpose another property that has been part of the university child care system to accommodate the relocation of CCSC and to increase childcare enrollment within its programs. Because of the immense popularity of the CCSC program and the university’s child care waiting list, the new CCSC will enable an expansion from the current 144 families, to a total capacity of 225 when the program is fully enrolled. The identified new site for CCSC is directly across the road from Escondido Elementary School and Bing Nursery, on land that was once home to the Rainbow School and Pepper Tree House programs. These programs have been retired and these buildings will be demolished to make way for the new CCSC. After a lengthy planning process which has included active engagement within the CCSC community, as well as discussion with Escondido Elementary School and Bing Nursery School, we are excited that the project is ready to move forward with an anticipated opening date of Fall 2018. In the next few weeks you will begin to see activity on the property. We want to point you toward some resources for further information on the project and how you will be able to stay up-dated throughout the project’s duration. The project management will also provide the administrative teams at Escondido School and Bing Nursery regular updates and alerts that they will provide in their regular, on-going community communications.
