Dear Parents,

It’s almost that time again – standardized testing is right around the corner. Our students in grades 3-5 will take the SBAC. We will be administering our tests when we return from break April 24th- May 9th. As you know, we have been busy preparing and reinforcing the skills necessary for students to demonstrate their learning. Even though this assessment is a snapshot—one single perspective – it is important that our students have every advantage to do their very best.

There are many ways in which you can help your child to do his/her best. The following guidelines can help set our students up for success. 1. Emphasize the importance of the test, but remember to build confidence, not anxiety. 2. Make sure your child goes to bed on time so he or she is well-rested. 3. Be positive and confident in the fact that you know your child will do his/her best. 4. Plan ahead to avoid conflicts on the morning of the test. 5. Ensure that your student is ON TIME to school. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education. Teachers will be sending out specific information about dates and times for class assessments in April. Together we can make a difference!

Queridos padres,

Es casi ese momento otra vez, las pruebas estandarizadas están a la vuelta de la esquina. Nuestros estudiantes en los grados de 3ro a 5to tomarán el SBAC. Estaremos administrando nuestras pruebas cuando regresemos del receso, del 24 de abril al 9 de mayo. Como saben, hemos estado ocupados preparando y reforzando las habilidades necesarias para que los estudiantes demuestren su aprendizaje. A pesar de que esta evaluación captura, una perspectiva única, es importante que nuestros estudiantes tengan todas las ventajas para hacer lo mejor posible.

Hay muchas maneras en que puede ayudar a su hijo a hacer lo mejor posible. Las siguientes pautas pueden ayudar a preparar a nuestros estudiantes para el éxito. 1. Enfatice la importancia de la prueba, pero recuerde construir confianza, no ansiedad. 2. Asegúrese de que su hijo se vaya a la cama a tiempo para que esté bien descansado. 3. Sea positivo y confíe en el hecho de que sabe que su hijo hará lo mejor que pueda. 4. Planee con anticipación para evitar conflictos en la mañana de la prueba. 5. Asegúrese de que su estudiante llegue A TIEMPO a la escuela.
