March 24, 2017 Dear Parents/Guardians: On April 6- April 12th , your child will be administered the PARCC Assessment (The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) from 8AM till 10AM. All 7th and 8th Grade students will participate in the PARCC Assessment. The PARCC Assessment will consist of three days of a Mathematics Assessment and three days of a Language Arts Assessment. We are excited that the students of Janis Dismus Middle School will have the opportunity to demonstrate their academic prowess. We have included a PARCC Parents’ Resource Guide along with this letter. Please review the information with your child. Listed below are several suggestions to help prepare your child for the PARCC Assessment:     

Plenty of rest and in bed early every night. Limit television and media (Internet, video games, etc.) Students should report to school no later than 7:50, if eating breakfast at home. Review Language Arts and Math skills at home. Attend tutoring with their teachers. .

Lastly, all students will receive free breakfast during the days of testing. The cafeteria is open at 7:30am. Your assistance in this matter is essential to your child’s achievement and our school’s success. If you have any questions please feel free to call our office at 201-862-6005.

Estimados Padres/Guardianes: Comenzando April 6- April 12th , su hijo/hija tomara el examen del estado PARCC de 8:00AM- 10:00AM . Todos los estudiantes de 7th y 8th grado participaran en el examen PARCC. Este examen es de Ingles y Matematicas. Los primeros 3 dias del examen los estudiantes tomaran el examen de matematicas. Los ultimos 3 dias los estudiantes seran examinados en Ingles. Estamos emocionados que todos los estudiantes participaran en el examen y podran demonstrar su progreso academico . Es sumamente importante que todo los estudiantes llegen a la escuela puntuales. Todo los estudiantes deben de llegar a la escuela a las 7:50am. El districto en los días del examen dara desayuno gratis a todos los estudiantes. La cafetería esta abierta desde las 7:30am. Para preparar a los estudiantes es importante que los estudiantes: Duerman 8 -10 horas Coman un desayuno nutriente Repasan y practiquen preguntas del examen PARCC Repasen conceptos de matematicas y literatura Gracias por todo su apoyo si tienen alguna pregunta al respect del examen me pueden llamar a la oficina (201)-862-6005.
