Forward: Throughout the world, people represent themselves through words and stories. Languages are forms of human interaction in which people make their feelings and thoughts known to others around them. There are many different languages and although each of them exemplify the diverse world cultures, often when it comes to communication, this diversity forms language barriers. Although all languages can seem drastically different, they can be translated into a common language and united to one meaning. All people are united and the meaning of diversity is that, although all come from different paths, these paths all lead to a single being. Thank you to everyone who helped us this year! It was a pleasure to work with such helpful teachers in the foreign language department, as well as students that submitted their diverse material needed to create our magazine.
Thank you, Sincerly, The Taxi Staff 3

Feu D’Automne By Julianna Poupard
Autumn Fire
In the fall, trees are bursting like a forest fire The vibrant colors, orange and red, spread Quickly like a charm Fall is enchanting you with heat of summer And the cool winds carry voices, and calling for our souls to come home.
Changes of Fall Fall is the time of year when the leaves fall off the trees. Each leaf of green turns to purple, red, orange, or yellow. The air is cool unlike the season before. Leaves crunch under your feet with every step you take. The sun is still warm. Fall is the time of year when the world is in perfect harmony. 7
Snow By Caroline Epstein Winter is Coming
By Adam Mohamed
The weather is getting colder and colder, The sky has many grey clouds. I think snow will soon fall, But it has not come yet! Everyday I am waiting for the snow, But it never ends up coming. Winter will arrive soon, But the snow has not yet fallen.

L’Hiver By Ankur Govil C’est l’hiver. The Winter It is winter. It is the holiday season and when the world goes to sleep. It is very cold and it snows often. Snowflakes fall peacefully. White snow blankets are everywhere, And it looks like a white paradise. The soil is hard, trees and plants seem to be dead, and bears hibernate. It’s time for hot chocolate and warm clothing. Children play in the snow, Also, Christmas is celebrated. The spirit of Christmas is in the hearts of everyone. Families come together and share gifts. 9

Winter I love winter. Winter is cold, but very beautiful. In the winter, the trees have no leaves on the ground, there is a lot of snow, and it is very beautiful. Winter is particularly quiet; no one is outside. When it snows, I’ll play with my brother in the snow, and it is a lot of fun. I really like winter. Winter and fun, and quiet, and beautiful. Winter is the best season. 10

The Arts of Winter
Like voices snow whispers a poem for all to read
calmly speaking floating in the sky almost expressing and crying the mood
Like artists snow paints a piece for all to see
illustrating cold brushing the ground almost showing and creating a new face of the land
Like singers snow sings a song for all to listen
flying melodies lifting harmonies almost singing and playing instruments the song of time

Reflection By Dylan Biswal
12
The Spring The Spring is very pretty. In the spring, the flowers boom, the trees are green, and the birds sing. The snow melted and the grass is growing. The spring has a lot of pollen. The spring is rainy and hot. A lot of people garden tomatoes, raspberries, and cabbage. In the spring, a lot of people watch baseball, hockey, and basketball. In the spring, people visit the park and have a picnic. I like the Spring.

Ils me font rire.
Friendship In French class, we read “One True Friend is a Sweet Thing” by Michel de Montaigne. The essay discusses the difference between a true friend and an acquaintance. When I read the essay, I began to think about friends and friendship in my life. An acquaintance and a true friend are very different. An acquaintance is ordinary and a friendship with an acquaintance is easy. Not much effort is necessary. An acquaintance contrasts with a true friend. They are loyal, close, and require effort. A true friend encourages you. They are always there for you, and you can count on a true friend in difficult times. When you are in college, you stay in contact with your true friend. Usually, you do not stay in contact with an acquaince. A true friendship is very special, because they are for life. In my life, friendship is important. I have many friends at school and I have good moments with them. They make me laugh. We do theatre together. 34
In my life, friendship is important. I have many friends at school and I have good moments with them. They make me laugh. We do theatre together. However, I rely on my family for support. I don’t want to share my concerns with my friends. My family is very important for me. I often go out with my family than with my friends, but I love to see my friends. When I thought of friendship in my life, I thought of social media and its effect on friendship. Social media has had positive and negative effects on friendship. Social media can be positive for friendship. You can connect with friends who are far away. You can have more friends around the world also. Social media is useful for keeping in contact with friends. It’s fast, and communication is easier. With social media, one can share photos with friends also. This way, one can share good times with friends. Social media is negative also. Friendships are not close and are not true. Friendships are just on a computer screen. Social media creates distance. They are not personal. While sharing photos is fun, you can lose control of them. Others can use your photos against you. With the protection of the screen, bullying is common too. In my view, social media is positive. I can stay in contact with my friends who live in different states. It is wonderful to see the photos they share on Facebook and Instagram. Since I cannot see them often, social media allows me to speak to them. My friends are very important to me, so I am thankful for social media.

The College Process The most difficult experienced I have faced this fall was applying to college. Although this was a difficult experience it was also very rewarding. Sending all of my applications gave me a big sense of relief. The biggest challenge was my essay. The main idea of this essay is to write about something that has hade a huge impact on your life. I found this very difficult. My essay went through many different phases. It was also sent to a variety of my teachers, my counselor and my family members. Keeping track of the corrections everyone gave me was very confusing. It took about two months, but, finally everything came together. A very important factor when it comes to applying to college is to stay organized. Having to ensure that each document had been sent to every school was very stressful. The hardest part is the things you cannot control such as when the standardized test results are sent. They can take weeks to process. Ultimately, once you press the submit button, it is out of your control. You just have to wait and realize the decision will soon be in your hands. The Old Spotlight At night, in Sevilla a woman listened as swords clashed in the streets. The lady looked outside to see a tall man standing over a dead body. The tall man walked away very calmly. The woman recognized the footsteps of the man. The next day the king was mad because the mayor had found no information on the killer. After the king and mayor found an oil lamp at the scene of the murder and asked townspeople as to who it belonged to. When the townspeople said it was the old woman, the king and mayor demanded to see her. They threatened to torture the woman (but never did) if she did not tell them who the killer was. In the end the old woman told them it was the king. The king paid the old woman 100 coins. The townspeople put an effigy of the king’s head on the street because they could not kill the king.

Accidentally, she bought our plane ticket home for the day that we had arrived. It was really unfortunate and I felt really bad for my mom. The airline was a little understanding, but we had to buy new tickets. Also we had to wait six hours for our new flight. However, I truly loved Miami and I would like to return soon. At the end of my vacation I was a little homesick and I was very excited to sleep in my own bed again. My winter vacation was marvelous when I was in Miami, as well as when I returned to New Jersey. I can’t wait for Spring Break!

I had eaten there before, so it was good to be back. Finally we returned to our hotel to sleep. In the third and last day we went to a place called Lincoln Waffle House for breakfast. Then we went to our hotel to get our bags and then went to the zoo in Washington. The zoo is very cool and it was the first time I’ve seen pandas in real life. After we left Washington we met my aunt and uncle for lunch in Baltimore. Then we continued driving and went home.

My Winter Break My parents and I went to Seattle and Alaska during winter break. After we arrived in the city of Seattle, we had dinner at SkyCity Restaurant on the Space Needle, and the meal was delicious. We enjoyed the entire view of the city as the restaurant rotated slowly, and the spectacular view left a deep impression on me. On the second day, we visited the Gum Wall and Pike Place Market and played video games at the Microsoft Campus. Then, we visited the University of Washington and the Suzzallo Library. We also went to the original Starbucks before we left Seattle. Next, we took a plane to Alaska. We waited an entire night in a lodge, then the northern lights(or aurora borealis) finally lit up the sky. The lights were directly above us and changing their shapes constantly, and they even formed the shape of a pair of wings. Our guide told us that it was one of the most astonishing and lasting northern lights of this year.
