NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION FOR KOUNTZE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

To the registered voters of Kountze Independent School District, Kountze, Texas: A Tax Ratification Election will be held on August 26, 2017, during the hours prescribed by law (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), within the Kountze Independent School District at Kountze Intermediate School, 110 W. Vaughn Street, Kountze, Texas, pursuant to Sections 26.05 and 26.08 of the Texas Tax Code. At the Election, the following proposition shall be submitted to the qualified voters of the District in accordance with law: Approving the ad valorem tax rate of $ 1.37 per $100 valuation in Kountze Independent School District for the current year, a rate that is $.13 higher per $100 valuation than the school district rollback tax rate, for the purpose of maximizing state funding for maintenance and operations, to gain approximately $230,000 in state funding. If voters approve the $1.37 tax rate, the Board of Trustees will reduce the I&S rate by $.13, to reduce the total tax rate to $1.24, which is equal to the tax rate from 2016-2017.”

Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at the Kountze Independent School District Administration Building, 160 W. Vaughn Street, Kountze, Texas, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. during the period commencing August 9, 2017 and ending August 22, 2017. NOTIFICACIÓN DE ELECCIÓN ESPECIAL DEL DISTRITO ESCOLAR INDEPENDIENTE DE KOUNTZE
