The Catholic Church in the United States will celebrate National Vocation Awareness Week, November 1-7. This observance is a special time for parishes in the U.S. to foster a culture of vocations for the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life. As a part of our celebration here at St. Cecilia, we encourage each of you to pray these daily prayers throughout this week. These prayers can also be found on the Vocations Committee page of the St. Cecilia website.
Daily Family Prayers (for National Vocations Awareness Week, November 1-7, 2015) Instructions: Pray the prayer below every day, and add each day’s individual prayer to the end. For instance, on Sunday, add the Sunday prayer, Open My Mind, to this one, etc.

Dear Jesus, we are praying that more people will answer Your call to become a sister, brother, priest, or deacon. When we see the cross, we remember You and Your love for us. Sunday, November 1 — Open My Mind
(add this prayer at the end of the daily prayer above) All: Lord Jesus, You were once a student like me. You studied God’s law, the history of your people, and the carpentry trade by which to earn a living. You lived in a human family, made steady progress in understanding, and yearned to discover Your vocation in life. Open my mind to the truth of things. Make me humble before the awesome mysteries of the universe. Make me proud to be a human being and a child of God. Give me the courage to live in the light of the Gospel. Amen.
Monday, November 2 — Prayer for All Vocations (add this prayer at the end of the daily prayer above)
All: Lord, our God, please encourage and strengthen all priests, brothers, monks, sisters, deacons, married couples and singles through the power of Your Spirit. Help them to imitate Jesus. Help them to be understanding and compassionate. Fill their hearts with joy and love. Inspire many young people with a desire to serve others in the priesthood and religious life. Give them the courage and generosity to respond to Your call. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our model and guide. Amen.
Tuesday, November 3 — Prayer for Priests

Wednesday, November 4 — Prayer for Women Religious (add this prayer at the end of the daily prayer above)
All: O God, thank You for calling some women to be totally dedicated to Your glory and to serving You through the Church. Give them Your desires so that they may work to bring the world to You. Bless those women who already serve You in a vowed life. Help each of us to be faithful to our own commitments so that in fidelity we may support all those seeking to be faithful to You as was Your beloved Son. We ask this through the Spirit who binds us all as one. Amen.
Thursday, November 5 — Prayer for Married Couples (add this prayer at the end of the daily prayer above)
All: Lord, thank You for creating man and woman and for giving them strong, faithful love for You and for each other. Thank You for blessing them and uniting them in the Sacrament of Marriage. Bless all married couples that they may receive children into a loving home with open and joyful hearts. Bless young men and women with the gifts they need to become faithful and dutiful husbands and wives. Bless their minds with wisdom, their bodies with purity and their hearts with understanding and love. Pour out Your graces upon them that they may one day guide little souls into the way of peace, goodness, and love for You. Lord, bless all families and help them become strong fortresses of unity, happiness and love. Amen.
Friday, November 6 — Prayer for Family Vocations (add this prayer at the end of the daily prayer above)
All: Vocations grow out of the family. The family is the place where God dwells in a special way. It is a place of support and challenge, a place of love and acceptance. Within our family we learn right relationship with our God, with others and with ourselves. Almighty Father, please grant that our parish families will be touched by your grace and will prayerfully encourage vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life among their loved ones. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Saturday November 7 — Prayer for My Vocation (add this prayer at the end of the daily prayer above)
All: Lord, You have called me and You know me. You know how I can serve You and reach real happiness. I want to be part of Your team and I want to know how I can serve You with my life. Let me pray to know what You ask of me; the married life, the single life, or the life of a priest, sister, brother, or deacon. Let me respond to Your call as did Abraham, Peter, Mary with the wholeness of my life. O God, Who enlightens the minds and inflames the hearts of the faithful by the Holy Spirit, grant that through the same Spirit I may know my true vocation in life, and may have the grace to follow it faithfully. This we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Bendice a esas mujeres quienes ya Te sirven en una vida consagrada. Ayuda a cada uno de nosotros a ser fieles a

Todos: Señor, Gracias por crear al hombre y a la mujer, y por darles fiel y gran amor por Ti y amor del uno al otro. Gracias por bendecirlos y unirlos en el sacramento del matrimonio. Bendice a todos los matrimonios para que reciban a los hijos dentro de un hogar amoroso con corazones abiertos y alegres. Bendice a hombres y mujeres jóvenes con los dones que necesitan para ser fieles y obedientes esposos y esposas. Todos: Las vocaciones nacen de la familia. La familia es el lugar donde Dios habita de manera especial. Es un lugar de apoyo y desafío, un lugar de amor y aceptación. Dentro de nuestra familia aprendemos a relacionarnos con nuestro Dios, con los demás y con nosotros mismos. Padre Todopoderoso, por favor concédenos que nuestras familias dentro de la parroquia sean tocadas por tu gracia. Todos: Señor, Tu me has llamado y Tu me conoces. Tu sabes como Te puedo servir y alcanzar la verdadera felicidad. Quiero ser parte de Tu equipo y quiero saber cómo puedo servirte con mi vida. Ayúdame a orar para saber qué es lo que pides de mi; el matrimonio, la soltería, o la vida sacerdotal, religiosa, religioso, o diacono. Permíteme responder a Tu llamado así como lo hizo Abraham, Pedro, y María, con la totalidad de mi vida.
