National Vocations Awareness Week Diocesan Novena for Vocations November 1-9 During National Vocations Awareness Week, the Diocese of Lubbock invites you to pray for vocations. Each day we will dedicate prayers for a different intention, asking the Lord to open men and women to lives of service in the church and courageous in doing the will of God. Please join us!

Steps to the Novena

November 1: Increase in Vocations

1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross.

On All Saints Day, we petition the Lord for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, religious life, and permanent diaconate in our diocese so that all might become saints.

2. Announce the Daily Intention

November 2: Deceased Priests and Religious On All Souls Day, we pray for the repose of the souls of those priests and religious men and women who have served in our diocese

November 3: Women Religious We ask Almighty God to sustain our women religious in their vocation and call more women to service for the Church of Lubbock.

November 4: Priests For the priests of our diocese, that God uphold them in virtue and holiness as they give themselves in service of the people of God.

November 5: Permanent Diaconate For our permanent deacons, their wives, and families, for those in discernment, that the Lord uphold them in their ministry of charity.

November 6: Parents & Families of Vocations That God might bless those who support their sons and daughters in their pursuit of a life of serving God’s people.

3. Pray one decade of the Rosary. (Our Father one time, Hail Mary ten times, Glory Be one time) 4. Pray the following prayer: Lord Jesus, as You gave us Your life You said, “Do this in memory of Me.” May all Your disciples fulfill Your command of love. Raise up humble men to the Priesthood, faithful people to the Consecrated Life, and holy men and women to Married Life. May all hear Your call to holiness and have the courage to respond with generous hearts. Amen. 5. Conclude with the Sign of the Cross.

November 7: Seminarians That our men studying for the holy priesthood might persevere in along their path of discernment and formation.

November 8: Marriage May those called to the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony open themselves to lives of mutual self-giving and devotion.

November 9: Bishop Plácido Rodríguez, CMF In thanksgiving for the ministry of our bishop to the Diocese of Lubbock, that our God may bless the diocese with more vocations to the priesthood, permanent diaconate and consecrated life.

Semana Nacional de Oración por las Vocaciones Novena del 1ro al 9 de noviembre Durante la semana nacional de oración por las vocaciones, la Diócesis de Lubbock los invita a rezar por las vocaciones. Rezaremos por las intenciones de cada día, rogando al Señor que llene de amor los corazones de nuestros jóvenes para el servicio en la Iglesia, según su voluntad. ¡Ayúdenos a acompañar a estos jóvenes con la oración! Cómo rezar la Novena

1 de noviembre: Aumento de vocaciones

1. Se comienza con la señal de la Cruz.

En este Día de Todos Santos pedimos al Señor por el aumento de vocaciones al sacerdocio, vida religiosa y diaconado permanente en nuestra diócesis, para que todos lleguemos a ser santos.

2. Se menciona la intención del día.

2 de noviembre: Sacerdotes y religiosos difuntos En este Día de los Difuntos, oremos por el descanso eterno de las almas de sacerdotes y religiosos que han servido en nuestra diócesis.

3 de noviembre: Religiosas Hoy pedimos a Dios todopoderoso que sostenga nuestras religiosas en su vocación y llame a más al servicio de la iglesia de Lubbock.

4 de noviembre: Sacerdotes Por los sacerdotes de nuestra diócesis, que Dios los mantenga en virtud y santidad en su entrega al servicio del pueblo de Dios.

5 de noviembre: Diaconado permanente Por nuestros diáconos permanentes, sus esposas y familias, y por aquellos en discernimiento, que el Señor los mantenga en el ministerio de la caridad.

6 de noviembre: Padres y familias con vocaciones Para que Dios bendiga a los padres que apoyan a sus hijos e hijas en su afán de una vida de servicio al pueblo de Dios.

3. Se reza una década del Rosario (el Padre Nuestro, el Ave María diez veces, y el Gloria al Padre una vez). 4. Recen la oración siguiente: Señor Jesucristo, cuando entregaste tu vida dijiste “Haz esto en conmemoración mía.” Que tus discípulos cumplan tu mandamiento de amor. Envía hombres humildes al Sacerdocio, personas devotas a la Vida Consagrada, y hombres y mujeres santos a la Vida Matrimonial. Que todos escuchen tu llamada a la santidad y tengan el valor de corresponder con corazón generoso. Amén. 5. Y se termina con la señal de la Cruz.

7 de noviembre: Seminaristas Para que los estudiantes hacia el santo sacerdocio perseveren en su ideal, discernimiento y formación.

8 de noviembre: Matrimonios Para que los llamados al sacramento del matrimonio abracen la vida de entrega mútua y fidelidad.

9 de noviembre: Nuestro obispo Plácido Rodríguez, CMF En agradecimiento a Dios por el ministerio de nuestro obispo a la Diócesis de Lubbock, para que el Señor bendiga más a la diócesis con más vocaciones sacerdotales, diaconales y religiosas.
