Introducing  Worship     in  Different  Languages

Language  is  important.   •  Language  reveals  and  clarifies  the  way  we   think  about  things.   •  Language  communicates  what  we  value.   •  Speaking  someone’s  heart  language   communicates  that  you  value  them  as  a   person.  

Just  because  someone  is  fluent  in  a  language   doesn’t  mean  that  is  their  “heart  language.”  

REFLECT  

•  Find  out  what  languages  the  people  in  your  congregaBon   speak.   •  Learn  a  word  or  phrase  (or  song)  in  their  language.  Record  it,   pracBce  it,  and  use  it  in  conversaBon  with  them  later.   •  Find  out  what  languages  are  represented  in  your  church’s   neighborhood.   •  Is  there  a  difference  between  the  languages  spoken  in  your   neighborhood  and  in  your  congregaBon?    

Address  the  “why”  and  the  “how”  as   well  as  the  “what.”    

Start  small  and  go  slowly.

Make  it  personal.
