The library, in conjunction with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and as an extension of the School Lunch program, will be providing free lunches to individuals ages 18 and under on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July from 11-12:30PM. There is no ID, library card or residency restriction of any kind. All food must be consumed on site.

DIY Marbled Paper
Tuesday, July 18th, 6:30PM. Learn to make unique designs and patterns using everyday household ingredients. Materials will be provided, but please register before July 14th!
Blue Island’s Architectural History
Tuesday, July 25th, 7PM. Led by a member of the Blue Island Historical Society! We will explore different styles that can be found in Blue Island and how the architecture has changed over time.

Mason Jar Craft
Tuesday, August 1st, 6:30PM. We will be making mason jar wall decor that can be used as vases, welcome signs at the entrance of your home, or for storage. All materials will be provided, but space is limited. Please register before July 28th.
DIY Root Beer
Monday, August 7th, 5PM. Celebrate National Root Beer Float Day with us by learning how to make your own root beer. After the demonstration we will be serving up root beer floats for participants.
Taste Test Tuesday: Appetizers
Tuesday, August 8th, 7PM. Looking for some stellar small bites for your next party? Join us to sample a variety of sweet and savory appetizers while learning how to recreate these recipes at home.
DIY Bath Bombs
Tuesday, August 15th, 6PM. Learn how to make your own bath bomb! These fizzy creations can be made in a variety of colors and make relaxation time a blast. Registration is required.
Sewing Basics
Every Wednesday, August 23rd to October 11th, 10AM-12PM. In this program you will learn the parts and function of the sewing machine. You will learn basic stitches, sewing buttons and simple alterations. We will also make simple projects. Beginners are encourage to come to the first class to learn the functions of the sewing machine. List of required material: Sewing machine, sewing machine instruction book, tape measure, white or light gray thread and scissors. The instructor will inform you of what kind of fabric to bring. Space is limited to 6 people. Register soon!

A monthly gathering for anyone interested in songwriting: get to know other songwriters, discuss a variety of topics related to songwriting, and get hands-on experience crafting and critiquing songs.
