Dear Parents: We are so proud of the progress that your children have made this year in reading and writing. It is extremely important for them to read often during the summer so they can maintain their fine progress. Please do everything you can to encourage your children to read this summer. The students have been given these reading logs so they can record the books they have read, the time they have spent reading and the pages they have read. We ask them to write just a few sentences about their reading so they can keep up their writing skills. There are many ways for students to read over the summer. Students can read favorite books they have at home or take out books from the Peninsula Public Library. There is an exciting summer reading program at the Peninsula Public Library called “A Universe of Stories”. A flyer for this program is included in this log. In addition to reading books, students can use some of the computer-based resources listed below: 1.
