Praying Out of the Box
Rezando fuera del molde
There are countless prayers, as well as endless ways of praying. Today, I want to invite you to discover your favorite way of praying; because in the end what we want is "to pray without ceasing". 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18
Hay innumerables oraciones, así como infinitas formas de orar. Hoy, quiero invitarte a descubrir tu forma favorita de orar; porque al final lo que queremos es "orar sin cesar".
In our religious forma!on, they taught us the tradi!onal prayers of the Church; the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory, etc. As we grow and mature, our way of praying is also transforming. I call it "evolu!on in prayer." We discover many variants, requests and mo!ves that we include in our prayers like thanksgiving, discernment and wisdom. Prayer is the most effec!ve way of communica!on with God. Benedic!ne, Franciscan, Igna!an and Carmelite prayers help us to develop and iden!fy which way of praying we feel more comfortable. Prayer is a two way communica!on exercise because we are having a conversa!on or dialogue with God. If we talk to Him, we always expect an answer from Him.
En la catequesis, nos enseñaron las oraciones tradicionales de la Iglesia; el Padrenuestro, el Ave María, la Gloria, etc. A medida que crecemos y maduramos, nuestra forma de orar también se transforma. A eso yo le llamo "evolución en oración". Descubrimos muchas intenciones y mo!vos que incluimos en nuestras oraciones; acción de gracias, discernimiento y sabiduría. La oración es la forma más efec!va de comunicación con Dios. Los modos de oración Benedic!na, Franciscana, Ignaciana y Carmelita nos ayudan a desarrollar e iden!ficar en cuál manera de orar nos sen!mos más cómodos. La oración es un ejercicio de comunicación bidireccional porque; estamos teniendo una conversación o diálogo con Dios. Si hablamos con Él, siempre esperamos una respuesta de Él.
God responses to our prayer using many different ways. You can hear His voice when you’re in silence, in a song, through the voice of another person or in a reading. The most important is to never stop praying. Give thanks for the good and for the lessons learned. God always understands. Prayer is no longer used for “complaining” as we thought. For example, we pray to God to thank him for the things we have and for enjoying all of his crea!on. Be crea!ve doesn’t mean that you need a dic!onary to look for extravagant words to have a conversa!on with God. He knows be$er what’s on your heart, soul and mind. He knows you, because you are His crea!on. We are children of God. Talk to Him with simple words, the same way you do with a very close friend; be honest, make it simple. Try your best to make the link that works best for you and God. There are many ways of praying “out of the box”…it’s a guarantee He will answer. I ask you to pray for more people from our parish to volunteer their !me in our ministries; Food Pantry, SVDP Meal Site, Eucharis!c Ministers and Ushers among the many that we serve here at St. John Paul II.

Dios responde a nuestra oración usando diferentes medios. Puedes escuchar su voz cuando estás en silencio, en una canción, a través de la voz de otra persona o en una lectura. Lo importante y fundamental es nunca parar de orar. Da gracias por lo bueno y por las lecciones aprendidas. Dios siempre en!ende. La oración ya no se usa sólo para "quejarse”. Por ejemplo, le agradecemos a Dios por las cosas que tenemos y por disfrutar de toda su creación. Sea crea!vo, no necesitas un diccionario para buscar palabras extravagantes para tener una conversación con Dios. Él sabe muy bien lo que hay en tu corazón, alma y mente. Él te conoce, porque eres Su creación. Somos hijos de Dios, habla con Él con palabras simples, de la misma manera que lo haces con un amigo muy cercano; se honesto, hazlo simple. Haz tu mejor esfuerzo para establecer el enlace que mejor funcione para ! y Dios. Hay muchas maneras de orar "fuera del molde...!enes la garan&a de que Él te responderá. Les pido que oren para que más personas de nuestra parroquia ofrezcan su !empo como voluntarios en nuestros ministerios; Despensa, Comedor de SVDP, Ministros de Eucaris&a y Ujieres entre tantos que ocupamos aquí en San Juan Pablo II.
