Asunción, 25 de mayo de 2015 A las comunidades y organizaciones religiosas de Estados Unidos Los que abajo firmamos, religiosos y religiosas del Paraguay venimos acompañando desde sus inicios la lucha de las comunidades campesinas de Curuguaty que habían sido desalojadas violentamente de las tierras de Marinakue, en la que murieron 11 campesinos y 6 policías. Esta causa, conocida en el mundo entero por sus efectos políticos es también una muestra de la falta de justicia reinante en el país. Las familias afectadas, además de no tener respuesta del Estado en su demanda de tierra y la muerte de sus familiares, han sufrido el calvario de un juicio pleno de irregularidades que muestran a un Poder Judicial incapaz de garantizar un juicio justo, favoreciendo los intereses de una empresa que se apropia de tierras públicas que debían ser destinadas a la reforma agraria. Por ello, les solicitamos que puedan sumarse a la ya creciente solidaridad internacional, pidiendo a través de una carta a las autoridades paraguayas la recuperación de las tierras de Marinakue para entregárselas a las familias campesinas, un juicio justo a los campesinos procesados y la investigación transparente de la masacre ocurrida el 12 de junio del 2012.

    Asunción,  Paraguay   25  May  2015       To  faith-­‐based  communities  and  organizations  in  the  United  States       We,  the  undersigned  men  and  women  of  faith  in  Paraguay,  have  been  accompanying   from  the  beginning  the  struggle  of  the  peasant  communities  of  Curuguaty  who  were   violently  displaced  from  the  territory  of  Marina  Kue,  as  a  result  of  which  11  farmers   and  6  police  officers  died.     Their  cause,  known  around  the  world  due  to  its  political  repercussions,  is  also  a  sign  of   the  lack  of  justice  that  prevails  in  the  country.  The  affected  families,  in  addition  to   getting  no  response  from  the  State  to  their  demand  for  land  or  to  the  death  of  their   family  members,  have  suffered  the  ordeal  of  a  trial  that  is  full  of  irregularities  and   which  shows  a  judicial  system  incapable  of  guaranteeing  a  fair  trial,  favoring  the   interests  of  a  company  that  appropriates  for  itself  public  lands  that  should  have  been   allotted  for  the  agrarian  reform.     We  therefore  ask  you  to  add  your  voice  to  the  growing  international  solidarity  and  to   request  through  a  letter  to  Paraguayan  authorities  that  the  territory  of  Marina  Kue  be   recouped  in  order  to  transfer  it  to  the  peasant  families,  that  the  arraigned  farmers   receive  a  fair  trial  and  that  there  be  a  transparent  investigation  into  the  massacre  of  12   June  2012.
