My Better Schools teammates have made important progress in reorganizing the school district’s administration, stabilizing the budget, and improving student learning. It is crucial we continue this progress— especially improving learning for all students regardless of background—through curricular reform, and additional support and training for teachers.

The Pennsylvania Auditor General criticized the Board in 2011 for failing its fiduciary responsibility to the taxpayers by being “too trusting” of District administrators. If elected, I would help the Board conduct proper oversight and be more open and transparent by re-establishing Board committees and having citizens’ advisory bodies.

We are currently working to improve safety in the schools, improve student achievement, lower the drop-out rate and do this and more while living within our resources. Last year, I helped reduce student disruptions at the Intermediate High School by making changes at the management level with administrators who understand our Community.
