FOCUS ON LANGUAGE & SCIENCE
Kindergarten- THE SUN, THE STARS & THE MOON Through cultural ryhmes and poems students will gain an understanding of how the movement accounts for the apparent change in its appearance. First Grade-HABITAT Students will make use of technology, literature and hands-on activities to learn about habitats that exist in Latin America or China (land and water). Second Grade- SEASONS Through film, literature and technology, students will learn about the different time zones and the descriptions of typical weather conditions in Latin America or China. Third Grade-EROSION Through film, technology and project-based instruction, students will discover global patterns of erosion and its changes over time. Fourth Grade-FOOD & MATTER Students will understand cross-cutting concepts of scale, proportion, and quantity of foods in order to carry out investigations and learn about foods from foreign lands. Fifth Grade- GEOSCIENCE Students will use literature and technology to become earthquake and volcano detectives. Sixth Grade-ECOSYSTEM Students will understand how foreign structures are responsible for functions and cycles of different organisms. Seventh Grade- PROPERTY MATTERS Students will learn about the different influences of Science, engineering and technology on society in Latin America or China. Eighth Grade- ENVIROMENTAL SCIENCE Students will use Science to study and understand complex interactions between humans and a specific environment.

UNIDADES TEMÁTICAS PROPUESTAS PARA EL INSTITUTO DE IDIOMAS DE
VERANO-2018 ENFOQUE EN EL CONTENIDO DE CIENCIAS VIA EL SEGUNDO IDIOMA
Kindergarten- EL SOL, LAS ESTRELLAS Y LA LUNA A través de rimas y poemas culturales, los estudiantes comprenderán cómo el movimiento explica el cambio en su apariencia. Primer Grado-HABITAT Los estudiantes utilizarán tecnología, literatura y actividades prácticas para aprender sobre los hábitats que existen en América Latina o en la China (tierra y agua). Segundo Grado- ESTACIONES A través de películas, la literatura y la tecnología, los estudiantes aprenderán sobre diferentes zonas horarias y la descripción de las condiciones climáticas típicas en América Latina o en la China. Tercer Grado-EROSIÓN A través de películas, tecnología e instrucción basada en proyectos, los estudiantes descubrirán patrones globales y sus cambios a lo largo del tiempo. Cuarto Grado: LA MATERIA Y LOS ALIMENTOS Los estudiantes comprenderán conceptos de escala, proporción y cantidad de alimentos para llevar a cabo investigaciones y aprender sobre alimentos de países extranjeros. Quinto Grado- GEOCIENCIA Los estudiantes usarán la literatura y la tecnología para convertirse en detectives de terremotos y volcanes. Sexto grado-ECOSISTEMA Los estudiantes comprenderán cómo ciertas estructuras extranjeras son responsables de las funciones y ciclos de diferentes organismos. Séptimo Grado- MATERIAS Y PROPIEDADADES Los estudiantes aprenderán sobre las diferentes influencias de la ciencia, la ingeniería y la tecnología en la sociedad de América Latina o en la China.
