Dear Parents/Guardians, At Loyola High School, one of our greatest priorities is ensuring that we communicate accurately and effectively about student attendance, important school information, and unexpected occurrences. As we transition to Powerschool as our student information system, it allows us to implement a mass communication tool called SchoolMessenger. SchoolMessenger allows Loyola personnel to communicate in real time with students and parents. It also offers a convenient way for parents to report student attendance. We are asking all students and parents to download the SchoolMessenger app and also Opt-In to text messaging (see the flyer included in this packet). To download SchoolMessanger app: ● Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at https://go.schoolmessenger.com). Once you download the app, you will access a new, more efficient student absence reporting system called SafeArrival. This new system will reduce the time it takes to verify student attendance, make it easy for you to report your child’s absence and easy for staff to respond to unexplained student absences. You may also use the SafeArrival website, https://go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence. These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. **It is also still completely acceptable to call the attendance line at x1212 to report an absence or give the school more specific information about your son’s attendance.** The school will in turn communicate with the parents regarding student absences. Parent(s) who have reported their son absent will receive a confirmation that day through SchoolMessenger. Loyola will also communicate through an automated notification system to contact parents whose child is absent when the absence was not reported in advance. The automated notification system will attempt to contact parents at multiple contact points until a reason is submitted for the absence. If our system is unable to reach the designated contacts, office staff will follow up. Starting August 27, SchoolMessenger and SafeArrival will be active for parents and school personnel. We ask for your patience and cooperation as we implement this new system. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your summer! AMDG, Daniel Annarelli Dean of Men
