El singular entramado urbano de su Conjunto Histórico, la ubicación de los templos, la inclinación de las calles y la emotiva a la par que solemne atmósfera que envuelve el desfile de los pasos procesionales y de las hermandades que los custodian, convierten a la Semana Santa de la Villa de La Orotava en un acontecimiento único y especial, caracterizado por tres aspectos fundamentales que la diferencian de las celebradas en el resto de las Islas Canarias: en primer lugar la pervivencia de los “cargadores” que portan sobre sus hombros los tronos de todas las imágenes; la práctica inexistencia de grupos escultóricos, (cada imagen procesiona en su propio trono), y en tercer lugar, el carácter unitario de la celebración, donde cada templo celebra sus cultos de manera individual pero a la vez en armonía con el resto de iglesias

The unusual layout of the Historical Quarter, the location of the churches, the slope of the streets and the emotive while at the same time solemn atmosphere which surrounds the steps of the images and brotherhoods which are responsible for looking after them make Holy Week in Villa de La Orotava a unique and very special event, characterised by three fundamental aspects which make it different from other festivals held elsewhere in the Canary Islands: in the first place, the survival of the “cargadores” or bearers who carry the thrones of all the images on their backs; the practical absence of group sculptures (each image sits on its own throne) and, in the third place, the unitary nature of the celebration, in which each church organises its worship in an individual manner but, at the same time, in harmony with the remaining churches. Das einzigartige städtische Fachwerk der historischen Altstadt, die Lage der Kirchen, die abschüssigen Straßen und die bewegende und feierliche Atmosphäre des Prozessionszuges mit seinen Bruderschaften, die ihn begleiten, machen die Osterwoche von La Villa de La Orotava zu einem ganz besonderen und unvergesslichen Erlebnis. Dieses wird von drei Aspekten geprägt, durch die sich diese Osterprozession von den anderen auf den Kanaren deutlich abhebt: an erster Stelle steht das Fortbestehen der „Träger“, die auf ihren Schultern die Throne aller Heiligen tragen. Dann gibt es keine Figurengruppen (jede Heiligenfigur sitzt auf ihrem eigenen Thron). Und drittens der einzigartige Charakter der Zelebration, denn jede Kirche feiert einerseits auf individuelle Weise das Fest, zugleich aber auch im Einklang mit den anderen Kirchen.
