PA Low Incidence Institute: High Expectations for Achievement Hershey Lodge and Convention Center August 10-13, 2015

Intended Audience: families, professionals and educators This conference will focus on topics related to serving students and young children with deafness and hearing loss, blindness, deaf-blindness, visual impairment, intellectual disabilities, traumatic and brain injury, significant cognitive disabilities and/or multiple disabilities. is a newly forming group of parents of children with complex instructional needs who attend schools in Pennsylvania. Parents can network, share resources and partner with each other as well as with educators to increase their children’s access to the general education curriculum. The families of the Statewide Parent Network will support each other and educators in the belief that their children with complex instructional needs, when given access and support, can learn what their peers without disabilities are learning. “Imagine educational practices in which learners with significant disabilities have the same learner outcomes as students without disabilities.” Kleinert & Kearns, 2001

Upcoming Trainings Do you want to learn more about supporting children by fostering high expectations in the school, home and community settings? A series of trainings are being created, addressing topics such as what it is to presume competence, how to access the general education curriculum and maximize communication and learning. The trainings will also offer parents ways to continue developing effective skills when working with school teams and ways that families can be instrumental in leading future change. These trainings will be offered within the Statewide Parent Network on-line as well as in face to face group settings. Bring a friend!

Próximos Talleres ¿Quieres aprender mas acerca de apoyar a sus ninos, fomentando altas expectativas en la escuela, hogar y la comunidad? Una serie de talleres que se han creado para dialogar sobre temas tal como: que es asumiendo capacidades, como su nino puede tener acceso al currículo de educacion general y como maximizar la comunicacion y el aprendizaje. Los talleres tambien les ofrecen a los padres formas de continuar desarrollando habilidades efectivas de como trabajar con el equipo de su escuela; tambien, como las familias pueden ser parte fundamental para dirigir los cambios futuros. Estos talleres se ofreceran en línea o en persona con el Colectivo de Padres a Nivel Estatal. ¡Traiga un Amigo!
