June 1, 2017 Dear Future Seventh Grade Parents/Guardians: It is hard to believe that we are already planning our seventh grade overnight trip. Our students will have the opportunity to participate in an environmental/team building educational program at “Club Getaway” in Kent, CT. The program will enable us to use the outdoors to facilitate the total education of our students through experiences that cannot be easily conducted in the classroom. This will challenge the students’ physical, social, and cognitive skills. For two days (September 19-20), yes you saw it right. It is an overnight adventure. Your child and their teachers will leave the classroom and join the “Club Getaway” staff to learn firsthand in a natural environment. Students will be involved in educational and team building activities all day. They will sleep in cabins with both PCMS and Club Getaway staff in cabins nearby. An Emergency Medical Technician is on duty at all times and the hospital is twenty miles away. You will receive a supply list once we see what the weather brings in September. The cost of the trip is $130 per student, which includes meals, transportation and sleeping accommodations (Heated Cabins). If you would like your child to be part of this educational program, please return the permission slip below with payment of $130 to Ms. Zidik’s office only by June 21. The trip will be filled on a first come first served basis. A waiting list will be started when all available spots are filled. 1 de junio de 2017 Estimados padres de los futuros estudiantes de 7mogrado: Es difícil creer que ya estamos planeando nuestro viaje del próximo año para el 7mo grado. Este próximo año escolar nuestros estudiantes participaran en un equipo de medio ambiente educacional llamado “Club Gateway” en Kent, CT. El programa nos permitirá utilizar el campo abierto para facilitar una educación total de nuestros alumnos a través de experiencias que no pueden realizarse fácilmente en el aula. Esto pondrá a prueba sus habilidades físicas, sociales y de conocimiento. Una aventura durante dos días (19 y 20 de septiembre) su hijo/a junto con los maestros dejaran el aula y se unirán al “Club Gateway” para aprender en un ambiente natural. Los estudiantes participarán en actividades educacionales y de equipo durante todo el día. Los estudiantes dormirán en cabañas bajo la supervisión de los profesores del “PCMS” y el personal del “Club Gateway”. Un técnico en emergencias médicas estará de guardia en todo momento y el hospital está a veinte kilómetros de distancia. Recibirá una lista de lo que necesite en septiembre dependiendo en el clima. El costo del viaje es $130 por estudiante, que incluye comida, transportación y hospedaje. Si usted desea que su hijo/a participe en este programa educativo, por favor envié el permiso que está a continuación con el pago de $130 a la oficina del asistente principal la Sra.
