Our Parish Mission Statement The Parish of St. John Bosco is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual Catholic Faith community that proclaims Jesus Christ. In the spirit of St. John Bosco, we do this by being a Home that welcomes all especially the young and the poor; a School that prepares for life through religious, educational and social services; a Parish that evangelizes through Word & Sacrament, Worship and Faith Formation; a Playground where lasting friendship and relationships are formed and developed through recreational and social opportunities.

From the Desk of Fr. Pat

Desde el Escritorio de P. Pat

We are already celebrating the Fourth Sunday of Lent— Laetare Sunday— and the priest is wearing Rose colored vestments to remind us that Easter is just three weeks away! It is a time for us to take stock of how our Lent has gone so far and to make some adjustments while there is still some time. Remember: if at the end of these forty days we haven’t changed our hearts and grown a little closer to Christ, this had been a wasted season. Lent is a graced moment and we need to make use of the graces. What holds us (me) back? As I have been reflecting on that question, I keep coming up with the same answer: obesity! We are allowing ourselves to become spiritually obese! We all know what obesity means: the more weight we put on, the harder it becomes for us to move and to take it off. Our energy level is low. We don’t have the will to do what we must to loose the weight. We know it isn’t good for us; we say we want to lose the extra weight; we know we feel better when it is not there— but it is hard to do so and often, the will to make the sacrifices necessary for it to happen isn’t there. Often, we stop trying and just settle for the way we are. If obesity is bad physically, it is much worse spiritually! It becomes clearer and clearer everyday that we are in a spiritual combat. We see all that is going on in the world and in the Church and we see that the devil is having his way with us. We know Jesus has overcome the power of darkness, but we still have the responsibility to fight against his temptations, wickedness and snares and, if we are out of “spiritual” shape we can’t do that; obesity takes over and we don’t have the will or energy to fight. This spells disaster for us. What must we do to get back in “spiritual shape” and lose the extra spiritual weight? First, we need a return to discipline. To be a disciple and to follow Christ means we need to be ready to pick– up our cross each day and follow Him. Sacrifice is a part of the daily life of a Christian. Disciplining my mind, my heart, my body daily, is the exercise I need to be prepared to war with Satan. He will find our weakest point and snag us; we need to fortify and strengthen that weakest spot so as not to give up so easily in the battle. Second, we need to return to the Sacrament of Penance. Admitting our sinfulness and receiving the “sacramental grace” of Confession are fundamental strategies to win in this spiritual combat. We should come to Confession often. We need both the forgiveness of our sins and the grace of the sacrament to fight against them. Confession needs to be a part of our regular spiritual life. Third, we need a sense of humor. The devil works when we take ourselves too seriously. Lack of a sense of humor— the inability to laugh at ourselves— is a sure sign of lack of humility, and pride is the devil’s biggest and easiest weapon against us. Laughter (more internal than external!) is a sign of our confidence in Christ and His Resurrection. Satan doesn’t know what to do with this! Easter is at hand. We have three weeks left to fight against our spiritual flabbiness so that we can have the energy to rise up with Christ and overcome darkness! God bless you!

Primeiro, retornar a disciplina. O sacrifício faz parte do dia a dia da vida do cristão.

Post to okres okazywania dobroci i należy to wykorzystać . Czy tak postępujemy? Nasuwa mi się określenie : otyłość duchowa. Wszyscy wiemy co to otyłość.Nie mamy energii, nie mamy potrzeby ,aby zgubić zbędną wagę . Brak nam stanowczości i mocnego charakteru. Zdyscyplinowany umysł ,serce i ciało pomoże nam w walce z diabłem. Należy często odprawiać pokutę i przystępować do komunii św..
