Thank you. “…Behold, one is coming after me; I am not worthy to unfasten the sandals of his feet.” – Acts 13:25 Stewardship is a lifestyle, it’s not a program or a process. It’s how we are called to live our lives twentyfour hours a day, seven days a week! It challenges us to live “Godcentered” lives, not “self-centered” lives. Reflect on your daily activities, do you do them for the glory of God or for the glory of your own name?

Dear Parishioners, You may have noticed each week in the bulletin that we have a number of vacant hours in our adoration chapel. Perpetual adoration was one of the first fruits of our merger. As separate parishes, St. John’s and St. Joseph’s didn’t have the space or the people to be able to house and sustain perpetual adoration. Together, however, we were able to transform office space into a beautiful chapel, and to have at least one person dedicated to praying before the Lord each hour of the day and night. This ministry has also been a step along the way of integrating our Spanish-speaking and English-speaking populations. Our bilingual Mass and reception every March 19, celebrating the anniversary of our chapel is something to which I look forward every year, and it highlights the distinctive character of our parish. Perpetual adoration has also been a great blessing to our parish. Many of the adorers can tell you stories of prayers that were answered or difficult times that were weathered with the help of spending quiet time with the Lord. Christ longs to be present to us, and waits for us to place ourselves in a position where we are ready to receive him. Many parishes would love to be able to offer perpetual adoration, but do not have enough dedicated people to sustain it. It is my hope that we are not such a parish, that we will be able to have someone present with the Lord in the chapel every hour, and be able to continue to have this ministry at St. Gabriel’s. –Fr. Deepest Gratitude It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that my final day serving as Parish Business Administrator of St Gabriel will be June 30th. This was not an easy decision for me because I believe in the vision and direction of St Gabriel, I see the Holy Spirit at work in our ministries and looked forward to seeing what God has in store as we grow into the future. It was also difficult because of the relationships I have made here. It has been an absolute pleasure and joy to serve so many dedicated and faithful people during my years of service. Please accept my deepest gratitude for all of you, and for the opportunities and various projects that have helped me to grow in my desire to serve the Lord. We serve an awesome God whose plan for our lives often takes us out of our comfort zone and into a place where we need to rely on Him. It is with trust in Him that I will be joining the staff of The Church of St Edward’s in Bloomington. I appreciate your prayers as I head on this new journey. It is my hope that we will stay in touch and I look forward to hearing about your future success. Know I will be praying for you. A search team has already been formed to interview prospective candidates for the Parish Business Administrator position. ~~ Beth FAITH SERVICE CAMP—STILL TIME TO REGISTER! Funeral Luncheons: You are invited to share in this Fellowship Ministry! "The Funeral Luncheon Ministry reaches out with care and hospitality to those grieving the loss of a loved one, to let them know they do not walk alone.” We would like to add to our list of people willing to bring desserts for funeral luncheons. We usually ask for a two dozen cookies, bars or brownies, baked at home or purchased. The more people we have on this list, the more we can share in this fellowship! The time commitment is 1-2 hours per funeral luncheon. The more people we have, the more we can share the ministry! Angela Cadena Gonzalez, Carlos Anthony Acevedo- Saavedra, Juliana Diaz, Maria del Carmen Caamaño, Pablo Sánchez Santiago and Yhoalibeth Dominguez-Lozano DID YOU KNOW that Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "You cannot do kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late." Try saying to your children fewer DO THIS, and more LET'S DO THIS TOGETHER. That can include Praying together! Ask your children who or what they want to pray for or about and never, never laugh at their response! Keep the prayer Time short, Jesus understands children! It is a kindness to share your faith with your children, do it before it's too late and you are thinking "if only I had made the time to pray with them when we were together." Fellowship June 24, 2018 – Solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist Isaiah 49:1-6; Psalm 139:1-15; Acts 13:22-26; Luke 1:57-66, 80

In the first reading Isaiah reminds us the Lord calls us from birth, from our mother’s womb he gave us our name. He concealed us in the shadow of his arm, hid us in his quiver until we were ready for him to show his glory through us. The Psalm reminds us the Lord know us; when I sit and when I stand; he understands my every thought. In the second reading John makes it clear that we need a baptism of repentance; he further shares that one is coming who even John feels he is unworthy to unfasten the sandals of. In the Gospel Luke reflects on the mercy the Lord has shown Elizabeth with the birth of her son John. There is confusion over John’s name until Zechariah writes John’s name on a tablet and only then was able to speak. As soon as he could speak he blessed God. All the people became aware of the Lord’s hand on John and how special he was. • What does your name mean? • Is there a special story around your birth or someone else you know? • Do you trust that the Lord knows your every thought? How does that make you feel? • Is it a challenge or a blessing to repent when you have a regret for something you have said or done, or not said or done? • Have you ever had to step aside and give up the lead to someone else? How did you come to that decision? UPCOMING VIRTUS SESSIONS AT ST. GABRIEL We have several Virtus “Protecting God’s Children for Adults” training sessions at St. Gabriel this summer.
