May 1  Sixth Sunday of Easter  John 14:23-29 (Year C) Today we hear Jesus tell the disciples that he is going to send them the Holy Spirit to help them remember all that they have been taught. The Holy Spirit will guide them and strengthen them so that they can continue the Fathers work. Jesus knew that the disciples did not completely understand everything he had taught them. In which Sacraments does the Holy Spirit come to us? Do we understand everything Jesus taught? How does the Holy Spirit teach and remind us today?

May 8  The Ascension of the Lord  Luke 24:46-53 (Year C) Today’s Gospel reading is from the very end of Luke. Jesus is talking with his disciples and reminds them that it was written, “the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day.” He also reminds them that in the name of the Messiah, repentance and forgiveness of all sins would be preached from Jerusalem and throughout the world. Then Jesus blesses the disciples and ascends into heaven. Remember a time when you have told another person (or God) that you’re sorry for something you said or did . How did that make you feel? Why do you think it’s important to forgive and be forgiven?

May 15 Pentecost  John 20:19-23 (Year C) In this Sundays’ gospel passage, we hear that the disciples are all together in one room, the doors locked, and they are afraid. Jesus comes and stands in the room with them. “Peace be with you.” He breathes on them and says, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” The disciples are not afraid and go outside with Jesus. Can you call on this gift of the Holy Spirit when you need strength in your life? How? What times in your life could you have asked for strength and didn’t?

May 22  The Most Holy Trinity John 16:12-15 (Year C) Today’s gospel continues with Jesus’ advice and instructions to the disciples at the Last Supper. He promises that the Spirit will be there to guide his followers to the truth. The Spirit will speak in Jesus’ name, just as Jesus speaks in the Father’s name. Each of these three Persons in one God belongs to the other. We call this mystery of God’s identity the Blessed Trinity. What is “God’s truth” (hint: L-O-V-E)? How do you share that truth with others? What sign or symbol reminds you of the Trinity? Why?

1 de mayo  Sexto Domingo de Pascua  Juan 14:23-29 (Año C) Hoy escuchamos a Jesús decir a los discípulos que él les va a enviar al Espíritu Santo para ayudarles a recordar todo lo que les ha enseñado. El Espíritu Santo los guía y les de fuerza para que puedan continuar el trabajo del Padre. Jesús sabía que los discípulos no entendían completamente todo lo que él les había enseñado. En cuál Sacramento es qué el Espíritu Santo viene a nosotros? ¿Entendemos todo lo que Jesús enseñó? ¿Cómo es que el Espíritu Santo nos enseña y nos ayuda a recordar el día de hoy?

8 de mayo  La Ascensión del Señor  Lucas 24:46-53 (Año C) La lectura del Evangelio de hoy, es del final de Lucas. Jesús está hablando con sus discípulos y les recuerda que está escrito, "el Mesías tendrá que padecer y resucitar de entre los muertos al tercer día." También les recuerda que en el nombre del Mesías, arrepentimiento y el perdón de todos los pecados sería predicado de Jerusalén y en todo el mundo. Jesús bendice a los discípulos, y asciende al cielo. Recuerda un momento en que le has dicho a otra persona (o a Dios) que lo sientes por algo que dijiste o hisiste. ¿Cómo te hace sentir eso? ¿Por qué crees que es importante perdonar y ser perdonado?

15 de mayo  Pentecostés  Juan 20:19-23 (Año C) En el pasaje del Evangelio de este domingo ", se nos dice que los discípulos están todos juntos en una habitación, las puertas cerradas, y tienen miedo. Jesús viene y se para en la habitación con ellos. "La paz esté con ustedes". Él sopla sobre ellos y les dice: "Reciban el Espíritu Santo. Los pecados que usted perdonen serán perdonados, y cuyos pecados a retener son retenidos. "Los discípulos no tenían miedo y salieron a la calle con Jesús. ¿Tu puedes llamar al Espíritu Santo cuando necesitas apoyo en tu vida? ¿Cómo? ¿Ha habido tiempos en tu vida que podrías haber pedido por la fuerza y no la pediste?

22 de mayo  La Santísima Trinidad  Juan 16:12-15 (Año C) El evangelio de hoy continúa con el consejo de Jesús y las instrucciones a los discípulos en la Última Cena. Él promete que el Espíritu estará allí para guiar a sus seguidores a la verdad. El Espíritu hablará en nombre de Jesús, igual que Jesús habla en el nombre del Padre. Cada una de estas tres Personas en un solo Dios pertenece a la otra. Este misterio de la identidad de Dios conocida como la Santísima Trinidad. ¿Cual es la “verdad de Dios"“ (pista: A-M-O-R)? ¿Cómo compartes la verdad con los demás? ¿Qué signo o símbolo te recuerda de la Trinidad? ¿Por qué?
