ELAC MINUTES Meeting # 1 September 27th, 2018, 6:00pm Cali Library 1. Presentaciones/ Presentations a) Lidia Teruel (AP) saludo a los presentes y presentó a la directora de currículum( Jennifer Martínez), mencionó que la directora no estaba esta noche en la reunión por un percance y mencionó que nuestro presidente y vicepresidente había sido contactados pero no habían respondido a las diferentes invitaciones moviéndonos a elegir a un nuevo presidente y vicepresidente. / ​Lidia Teruel(AP) greeted all the parents present and introduced the curriculum director(Jennifer Martinez). She also mentioned that the school principal was unable to be present that night for personal reasons and that the former president and vice-president of ELAC had not responded back after several invitations to attend the ELAC meeting. Therefore, the AP moved to invite other parents to be elected as the president and vice-president. b) Los demás miembros del grupo ELAC se presentaron y compartieron el motivo de ser partícipe del grupo./ ​Members of the ELAC group introduced themselves and shared their main reason to be part of ELAC. 2. La representante del consejo governamental escolar, Mapi Klick, se presentó al grupo y explicó lo que el consejo es y cómo trabaja y presento y explico es los objetivos del SPSA a los padres de ELAC para ser aprobado esa noche. Los padres de ELAC aprobaron el SPSA. / ​The Governing Council Representative, Mapi Klick, introduced herself to the group and explained what the Council does and presented the three goals of SPSA to the parents and the strategies to use to achieve the goals to be approved. The ELAC parents approved the SPSA. 4. ​Nuevas Ideas para el curso escolar fueron presentadas/ ​New ideas for the school year were presented to the parents

a) Fomentar el incremento de actividades culturales en la escuela / ​(Increase Cultural awareness). ​Los padres estaban interesados en diversas actividades como el dia de los muertos/Feria internacional/5 de Mayo etc... b) Transparencia comunicación a través de una página web de ELAC. (Communicative transparency via ELAC Website). ​Los padres estuvieron de acuerdo en tener una página web para ELAC y compartir así informacion. ​The parents agreed on having an ELAC Website to share communication and keep the community informed. c) Cafecito con la directora y subdirectora en el MPR cada segundo lunes de cada mes a las 8:30 a.m. / ​“Coffee time” with principal and vice principal every second Monday of the month at 8:30 a.m. in the MPR

5. ​Google Form Datos y temas de interés / ​Google Form Data and Themes of Interest. ​Los padres tuvieron la oportunidad de compartir sus datos personales y temas de interés para traer a nuestras reuniones de ELAC. ​The parents had the opportunity to share their personal information and the topics that were of their interest to bring them up to ELAC. RESULTADOS DE ENCUESTA / ​RESULTS OF SURVEY: a) El 64.5 % de los padres necesitaran servicio de guardería para sus hijos. / 64.5% of the parents will need babysitting in order for them to attend these Elac meetings.

b) Estos son los temas y actividades que mas les interesa a los padres / ​These are the themes and activities that the Elac parents are most interested in.

Servicios de salud / Health Services: 9 (52.9%) Servicios legales / Legal services: 7 (41.2%) Santa Rosa Junior College Informacion/ Information: 11 (64.7%) 6. Preguntas/ Questions: Los padres expresaron preocupación al sacar el tema de que algunos estudiantes con servicios especiales, se les fuerza a abandonar CALI y marcharse a la escuela de Windsor Middle para seguir recibiendo sus servicios, o perderlos completamente quedándose en Cali. Lo vieron injusto y se comentó de escribir una carta para presentar al grupo de padres de DLAC en el distrito de Windsor para que se piensen en otras opciones y ofrecer su descontento. / ​The parents expressed their discontent and concern about the fact that some Special Ed. students are being forced to leave Cali and transfer to the Windsor Middle in order for them to keep receiving their services, or choose to stay at Cali without any help. The parents mentioned that this is not fair and wanted to write a letter and take it up to the Dlac group ay in the Windsor District in search of new proposals. 7. ​Despedida e información de las próximas reuniones de Elac / ​Adjournment and
