Paul’s Ponders 17

The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” 18 And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:17-20 I am not a student of satanic nature, history or power. I know little about the devil. I know, the first step for success is to “know thy enemy”. I probably should know more about Satan. I have never felt compelled to study about Satan. I know he has already lost. Pondering this passage gives me a little insight into Satan. First, Satan appears to have been in heaven, which means he has tasted the glories of heaven. Second, he is not in heaven now. Satan knows how great heaven is. We can only imagine. No wonder he is so upset and mean, vicious and dangerous. Have you ever considered that there is no provision in heaven or earth for Satan to be able to return to heaven? The devil can’t get to heaven. But God sent his son to provide you with a means to access heaven through grace. Rejoice that your name is written in heaven.

Outreach and Family Ministry This team offers home bible studies, hospital and home visits, shut-ins visits, baptisms, and any encouragement needs. This team also offers general maintenance duties - such as minor home/yard work and heavy lifting.

Aveces Pienso Cuando los malos pensamientos irrumpen nuestra mente, cuando sentimos que nuestros amigos nos han abandonado, cuando llegamos a pensar que ya nada tiene sentido, que hacer ante estas circunstancias. Pensar en las calamidades de Job, las guerras que tubo que enfrentar Josué para llegar a la tierra prometida, las frustraciones de Moises con los Hebreos, etc... A veces pienso que hoy en día vivimos las mismas batallas, enfermedad, tristeza abandono, deseo por alcanzar nuestro bienestar, conducta desordenada de nuestra sociedad o de nuestros hijos. Quizás Dios nos dejó esas historias para que sirvieran de reflexión y pensáramos detenidamente con atención y cuidado lo que habría de de venir. Ps 5:1-3 Mi rey y mi Dios, escucha con atención mis palabras; toma en cuenta mis súplicas, escucha mi llanto, pues a ti dirijo mi oración. Tan pronto como amanece te presento mis ruegos, y quedo esperando tu respuesta. En tu palabra tengo mi esperanza.

On-Going Events SUNDAY MORNING: Bible Classes for all ages at 9:15a.m.. Donuts and coffee are provided in the kitchen before and after class. Worship Service at 10:15. Headsets for Spanish translation are provided during Worship Service. CHILDRENS BIBLE HOUR: Bible Hour for young children is located in the large classroom next to the kitchen. An announcement will be made to dismiss the children to the classroom. SUNDAY EVENING SMALL GROUP STUDY: Please see the insert for our “In the Word” Sunday Evening/Afternoon Bible Study locations. Group leaders are available for more information. SKY VALLEY WORSHIP & BIBLE STUDY: 4pm starts the combined Worship Service/In The Word Bible Study for the DHS/Sky Valley areas. LADIES’ TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY: Please join us for an uplifting study and fellowship with other women of faith every Tuesday morning from 10-11:30am. The current study is the book “Wild and Free”. MEN’S WEDNESDAY MORNING PRAYER: Wednesdays at 7:30a.m., the men meet at the church building for prayer and then go out for breakfast. WEDNESDAY NIGHT CLASSES: Wednesday Bible Class at 6:00p.m. SUNDAY SERMONS: Sunday Sermons can be accessed on YouTube under “Nick Macias” account.
