Translation I have been commissioned to translate simple Spanish prose into English. What follows is an example of excerpts from a Puerto Rican client’s CV, with the client’s original Spanish first and then my English translation: YK comenzo su larga y multifacética carrera en las artes en la escuela superior, en 1989 cuando estudio bajo la tutela de la primera actriz Ofelia D’ Acosta en la Academia de Arte Dramatico de su propio nombre por tres años. En el 1992 YK ingresa en ”The Civic Theater of San Juan”. Alli escala al puesto de Vice Presidente y por un espacio de 5 años, bajo la tutela de Claudia Moore, se entrena en los dos lados de la producción teatral: desde el escenario, y trasbastidores, participando en obras como “Nunsense” dirigida por Mario Paoli y Bedroom Farce co producción con Mirna Casas. En 1998, con la inquietud de crear un taller de teatro más serio y de temáticas mas profundas a las que se solian tratar en el teatro en aquel momento en Puerto Rico, Korff decide abrir su propia compañia de producción. Nace el “Pygmalion & Galatea Theatre Company” Bajo la dirección artistica de Joseph Aguayo el Pygmalion & Galatea Theatre Company subio a escena la primera comedia escrita por el actor norteamericano Steve Martin.... “Picasso at the Lapin Agile”. “Picasso...” se presento en la Sala Experimental Carlos Marichal, en el Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferre. en Febrero de 1999. Esta primera producción le valió la nominación por el Circulo de Criticos de Puerto Rico como Mejor Director a Joseph Aguayo.

YK began her long and varied career in the arts in high school in 1989 when she studied under the tutelage of premier actress Ofelia D’Acosta in the Academia de Arte Dramatico for three years. In 1992, YK entered into The Civic Theater of San Juan where she achieved the position of vice president and, for a period of 5 years, while working closely under the guidance of Claudia Moore, was trained in the twin sides of theatrical production: onstage and behind the scenes. She participated in works like Nunsense, directed by Mario Paoli, and Bedroom Farce, co-produced with Mirna Casas. In 1998, restless to create a theater workshop which was more serious and dealt with deeper themes than those which most Puerto Rican theater was concerned with at the time, YK decided to open her own production company. So Pygmalion & Galatea Theatre Company was born. Under the artistic direction of Joseph Aguayo, the Pygmalion & Galatea Theatre Company staged the first comedy written by the North American actor Steve Martin, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, which premiered in the Carlos Marichal Experimental Room in the Luis A. Ferre Center for the Liberal Arts in February of 1999.
